I recently read that Yamaha used the Schilke B-7 as a model for its "Shew" trumpet. If so, how? Does anyone have any more verification of that than just this one bit of hearsay? Thanks.

I had always heard it was the B6 it was based on.

@Kehaulani If that was the goal, they failed miserably. I consider them to be light years apart on blow, core and tone.

I owned a first generation Shew for 6 months, and wasn’t happy with it. I’d heard it was based on the B-6 so decided to try it. I’d already tried a B5, which I liked better than the Shew but still wasn’t what I was looking for. Got the B6 and played it for 7 years and loved it until my needs changed again. I do like the newest version with the heavier valve block better than the other versions, but still not the horn for me.
