I certainly prefer TB over TH. Some of the know-it-alls there are just unsufferable.
The only problem I have with TB is the lack of discussions regarding the technical aspects of playing the trumpet. I have started posts in that category but I guess they weren't interesting enough because after a handful of replies the discussion just dies. So I have pretty much given up. There is a lot of knowledgeable members here who would better serve the board by starting discussions on technical topics.
      Just my thoughts.

@georgeb Forums are what people choose to make them. With the demise of TM, TB is as much a social interaction site as an information source. If I have a need for specific and hopefully objective information (a sometimes impossible dream), I will more than likely use TH. A personal choice.
As to opinionated know-it-alls, they are not to be found exclusively on TH.

        Regards Chelpres

Oh, you are correct about that for sure.

All things being equal, I say keep the old treads unlocked. This would give people the ability to add updates and related questions. But I'm happy with whatever the admins/moderators want.

On a related note, there's a resurrected thread on TH, that started with a legitimate question about pricing, but reemerged 2 years later with hyperbole and infighting. Maybe this is a good argument for locking old threads. 😉

Last week there was I really helpful exchange of views on the "Difference between Cornet and Trumpet" thread all of a sudden after over 2 years of silence. If that thread had been locked it would likely not have happened as it was resurrected by a new member who likely would not have jumped through the hoops to have it opened up.
