I wonder how it compares with the Olds CHR,the brightest in my stable, similar shaped bell.

          Regards, Stuart.

I had to give this a go on one of my older horns also.
If noise control arrives later to shut me down I'm blaming Trent........πŸ˜€

Trent, have you ever tried a Getzen Power Bore? Add a Jettone Studio B to the Getzen, I believe this is even a brighter mouthpiece/horn combination.

@Dr-GO yeah I have owned one. Good horn but not nearly as bright as the Buescher.

I have a Holton Super Collegiate Cornet that is brighter than all (I bet). It's an ear piercer!!!

That video is an oucher. I do really like the look of the horn, though. Art Deco is pretty darn awesome styling.

The brightest I have, and played is the Conn Vocabell as per TobyLou. It is the brightest in my stable with any Lead mpce. I have not tried the Buescher, so I do bow to Trent...

This is my actual horn - still got it. Ozwinds couldn't move it! Museum grade restoration. Magic Horn

Peashooter? Looks like it might be with the tight bends in the tubing and shallow space for the left hand.

@BigDub Yes, the Conn Vocabell 40B - a peashooter that plays like a Light Sabre.

The brightest horn I have played was an Olds Mendez, made ca 1970, using a stock Olds mouthpiece (rather shallow).

Bach Stradivarius Model 37 in silver [180S37], ca 1972.

The Vocabell is bright but it does not hold a candle to the Olds CHR.

I will bring mine in on thursday.

                                  Regards, Stuart.

The brightest horn I ever played was a Pan American peashooter, back in the day.

Believe it, or not, I paid a whole one dollar for it.

Funny side story - I bought it to throw when I got frustrated when practicing. I eventually tried to bend the bell up like Dizzy's horn, but I put a crease with a hole in the bell where the bell was supposed to go up. No longer playable . . . but still throwable. πŸ˜‰

I don't think the 40b is really bright. I can play it and make it blend. But it is definitely the loudest horn I've ever played. I remember playing a rock gig and I could hear my live sound bounce back off the rear wall louder than the monitors.
