Nice playing. I still can't wrap my mind around why anybody would voluntarily listen to "Gonna Fly Now." I really dislike that song.

There are a bunch of tunes in that genre. I used to get off on some of them because of certain extra-musical connections.
But, for me, there's no comparing one of Maynard's scream/disco albums to his Message From Newport, for example. I don't listen to much of that higher, faster, louder, nanny-goat vibrato stuff, either.

I spent a weekend with the Drum Major's girlfriend and the movie sound track to Rocky. Brings back very pleasant memories.

It's all a part of the "Rocky" persona. Rocky Balboa is the "every man", blue collar guy that gets a shot and makes it. The song fits with the era and works well within the movie. W/O the movie behind it, it's not much. Personally, I like the Anthem better. Crank IT!!!!
