Sorry to hear that, Butch. I lost my Mom in 2001 and my Dad in 2011, so I can empathize. Luckily, my two brothers, my sister, and I all get along fine and there were no problems settling the estate. Hope your sister does the right thing.

Speaking of Mets. The Miracle Mets of 1969 had three players from Mobile Alabama in the outfield. Tommie Agee, Cleon Jones, and Amos Otis. A few days ago the National ABC new media was in Mobile interviewing Cleon over the finding of the wreck of the ship Clotilda. He was among one of a handful of people long supporting Africa Town and the search for the Clotilda. It was obvious the reporter didn't know who Cleon was....guess it was ancient history the Mets winning a World Series. Why shouldn't they have taken notice? Sad in a way though. The Coltilda was the last ship to bring African slaves to the US , illegally by all laws at the time, thirty or more years before the Civil War. It was done as a bet by one rich man to show that he could do it. The "illegal" contraband colonized what is known as Africa Town as a section of North Mobile.

What I dislike about this stand is that it’s quite unstable with any less than 3 horns on it - especially on carpet. My quad K&M stays put on any surface even with only one peg attached, unless it’s knocked over by a drunk officer’s wife in an evening gown and rainbow clown wig.....that gig sucked!

The do call them doctor. However, having just left a medical school as a Professor and teaching in all four years of the curriculum, graduating last is still graduating above a 70% level AND passing the USMLE (our Federal licensing exam). Compare this to how often physicians (who have ALREADY graduated) actually choose the best outcome for their patients (numbers published in Advances in Health Sciences Education):
Internists 57%
Family Physicians 50%
Surgeons 45%
Pediatricians 38%

During Graduate School, I actually kicked my academics into high gear and gradated from the City University of New York with a 4.0 average and from medical school number 7 in my class (out of 108) and received the Outstanding Senior Student Award. So I rallied significantly after under graduate years, in part, due to playing in a working band on 3 school nights. Would I do it different.y. Absolutely not as my life was truly enriched with all of these experiences!
