RE: A little humour
@bigdub I thought of you when I noticed the landscape painting in the background. I'd missed the pie until you mentioned it. It looks like an evil, grinning wolf's head at first glance. Very polter/polkageist!
(Edit) - just noticed the painting of the rabbit. Are there echoes of Munch's The Scream? -
RE: Blasphemous takes on classic tunes
@barliman2001 Was that Vladimir Belushi doing the male vocal?

RE: Blasphemous takes on classic tunes
@jolter
I blame the parents.
Seriously however, it feels uncomfortable watching someone who was may have been playing 3rd trumpet in her high school band. It feels like "kicking down" on a fellow player. -
RE: A little humour
@ssmith1226 I can't remember the last time a cartoon made me spontaneously laugh out loud like this.
So good when a professional in joke can be shared with we general public -
RE: Blasphemous takes on classic tunes
@j-jericho , @GeorgeB as per my post, I'm a fan of Sinatra too. I can remember being told on multiple occasions to go listen to his work by MDs trying to get a school band to swing. Same thing 50 years later as my community band rehearses Sinatra! (Arrangement by Stephen Bulla) He remains da man.
@J-Jericho, wondering if Pavarotti's respect was based on music or The Mob -
RE: Blasphemous takes on classic tunes
Let's get controversial. Here's my nomination...
I love so much of Sinatra's work and almost by definition he was a "cover artist". OTOH, Jim Croce wrote some great songs and was taken way before his time. Sinatra butchers this great tune. His performance is all style without substance or integrity.

RE: Best value instruments: CarolBrass
@administrator 100% agree. I have an early model Legend Heavyweight and bought a mini-pocket earlier this year. Like many Carol horns the Legend came with round and D-shaped tuning slides along with standard and heavier valve caps and buttons. Even though Carol are building the mini-pocket to a price - it comes with a plastic mouthpiece - build quality and valves are excellent.

RE: Mid 20's Holton mouthpieces
@tptguy ACB sell a "vintage trumpet" backbore that should fit your Holton.

I believe that the thread is the same as Warburton -
RE: Jackie Gleason Plays Cornet
Apart from the funny, cornety bits, a couple of things struck me in that video.. First was what a great quality clip it was. Not sure whether the originally episode was on film or maybe it was restored.
The other was Gleeson's character waving his fist in his wife's face on a coupler of occasions. What was funny and normal has certainly changed, dare I suggest, for the better.
