I had to find a recent photograph but this looks good enough.
Burning Man Festival, Nevada?

Kailua-Oahu, Hawai'i.
No songs that I know of about Kailua but a song by the group "Olomana". Olomana is a landmark mountain in Kailua and the band, from Kailua, takes its name from there. Very nostalgic song about how it was in one's youth, there.

I have discovered . . sometimes accidentally!
"Happy little mistakes?"
Thanks for the comments.

So you consider name calling and coming after me as a counterbalance? Careful! Best to stick to your knitting. I can take care of myself, thank you.
This response just confirms what has been said above. Such a rush to judgement. Let's check our egos at the door.
I never cared much for most of his music. Seemed to me better suited as background for The Dating Game. But as a producer he's one of the best. And a side of him that is perhaps overshadowed by his musical work is his humanitarian work. He's a personification of "passing it on".
An example of his personal good heart was when I found out that, on Chet Baker's return after a long hiatus, the night of the concert Herb found out that Chet had no trumpet and Herb drove home, picked up his own trumpet, and loaned it to Chet for the gig. Man, that's going the extra mile. I got a whole new of appreciation for Herb Alpert the man. Happy Birthday!
Did you use conventional oil painting for this or the wet on wet technique and with larger brushes?
p.s. speaking of Bob Ross, I saw a show the other night from his son. Guess what? Same basic style and content but better. And the sky actually looked like a sky.
I just have three short comments:
Who cares? So much of the substantial arguments are, to me, a waste of time. Extended micro-analysis. I guess medical doctors and engineers and the like, like this stuff. To me it sometimes raises to "the finger pointing at the moon and not the moon, itself. That's just me.
Some of the issues Sound Advice brings up have content that, in and of itself, are decent topics for discussion disregarding himself but getting some info from others on a topic he raises. What others say on a topic, and not necessarily Sound Advice, may be useful advice.
Leave Franklin alone. To me he's irascible and has some rough edges. But he also represents an individual voice that acts as a counter-balance to some others.

Why a white horse? There would be more contrast against a dark background, yes?
Shows how we can make automatic assumptions based on our race. Who says she was white?
I had a friend who used to say, "What will this mean to a nude lady riding a white horse ten years from now?".
I came across this, this morning. It is a tour of Louis Armstrong's house and archives, as well as some voice recordings and anecdotes. It's about 50 minutes. Very interesting.
When I started reading this thread and it clumped trumpet technology/sound in a 50 year grouping, my mindset was as if I was reading about something historical, antique, distant past. Then I realized that last 50 year clump wasn't in the historic, distant past. It was within my lifetime!
As I understand it, the Stevens' embouchure relies on the size of the embouchure opening and the direction of the airstream. Flat tongue in the process. It works for some. Other schools integrate the tongue in different tessituras, similar to the range change of the tongue when whistling. Is it not possible for both systems to work?
Well, if you're talking Italian Jazz trumpet players, the Godfather, Enrico Ravi:

And Paulo Fresnu:
Thanks for posting that: very moving. I've conducted and played that many times and it never fails to gives be goose bumps.

Sound Advice - do you "know" Franklin, where he's coming from and his posting background?
Kehaulani, in fact I'm very curious to hear your, without doubt, superior analysis on both subjects.
That quote, Franklin, was to encourage any poster to look into your posts with more depth before criticizing them. I won't make that mistake again.

Is a psychologist a Dr. in the USA?
Franklin, the difference is that the Psychologist is an academic degree and a Psychiatrist is a medical degree. They both use the term doctor.
The doctors can correct me if that's incorrect.
