@ flugelgirl - I ordered some BERP oil. When it comes, can I use it straight away or should I clean my valves and casings, first. I use Hetman. Thanks.

On flugelgirl's say so I ordered 8 oz of the #1. . I use BJ bc it seems to keep my horn the cleanest. . If flugelgirl is correct and residue is minimal with this horn..its worth a try. Thank you flugelgirl!!!
Yeah, I've been a long-time Hetman user but just ordered some BERP oil, too. I'll let you know how it goes.

In Isaiah, it also mentions that God sits above the circle of the earth. Interesting verbiage in both instances. If you're looking from above, the shape can be circular but that doesn't imply a globe. It could be flat, just circular vs. rectangle, square, etc. BTAIM, any sociologist knows the prevailing belief historically was that the Earth was flat. No argument.

@flugelgirl.
So (and not being flippant) for the lazy you recommend Berp valve oil?
Which weight? I have all from new to one year old horns. Schilke, Getzen, Yamaha.
Thanks, Kehaulani. -
RE: First gig today
Looks good.
I'm still burned that, yesterday, some old woman had a question and stuck her unmasked face about one foot into mine and kept touching me on my shoulder and hand. I guess some of these people think they don't have much time left, so it doesn't matter much, but I do and it matters to me.
BTW, how was the temperature?

Ever seen a map of the earth? There's a Bible reference to the four corners of the Earth. I'm more than sure they weren't referring to a map.

Anything beats the 2/3, 3-in-One oil and 1/3 kerosene mix I used when I had no money.

Actually, there have been too many of the good ones leaving us recently. Wallace Roney, Claudio Roditi included. And it will continue, Dr-GO. We're not getting any younger.

. . no one in the original texts ever said anything about the Earth being flat or round - it just is not mentioned in the Bible at all . .
What do you call the four corns of the Earth? Ever see a sphere with four corners?

RE: Opinions on Valve Oils?
There are a bunch of good ones. For consistency, I just use Hetman on all my horns and tailor the strength to the age/condition of the horn.

RE: A little humour
Look guys, the Earth is 6000 years old. Like old Willy, who I worked with, said heatedly when we were talking about a satellite going around the Earth, "Can't go around the Earth. The Earth's flat! Read your Good Book, it's all there. Can't go around the Earth."
Now can we at least stay on topic? Isn't this the Humor thread?

RE: Notes I wish were there!
So the notes are there, harmonically, but the trumpet tessitura is not. It's not implied by the notes in a different octave that they should be there in a higher one. It's an orchestrational choice based on the carrying power, or absence of, a screaming trumpet E above High C.

RE: Miles Davis 1955 “Comeback” at the Newport Jazz Festival
No, was his articulation at that time in his life different than the way he articulated things later in his playing. I hear a difference, more like Clifford Brown. More reliance on the tongue.

RE: A little humour
This may be one of the reasons more people don't stay here. Non-musical, non-trumpet, not even not sticking to the topic of humour. Wait a minute, maybe it is.

RE: Notes I wish were there!
He's delaying the cadence and climax. Hear how it leads into a change in texture and volume. Ebb and flow.

Excellent find. Does anyone else find Miles' articulations not what we've come to expect?
