It just occurred to me that, although there are a limited amount of Abraham Lincoln sound bites available from which to choose, there's a wealth of JFK voicing available. Perhaps there could be AI JFK singing "Another One Bites The Dust" instead... or even better, with a little more AI development, AI JFK and AI Lincoln singing the song as a duet!

@ssmith1226 What's next... AI Abraham Lincoln singing "Another One Bites The Dust"?

RE: Cataract Surgery
Interesting timing, GeorgeB. I had my first cataract surgery a week before yours, and my next one is set for next Tuesday. My post-op instructions say normal activity is OK after a week. My experience with surgery in general is that full recovery takes a lot longer than predicted by my doctors, so I take a conservative approach. I may try to play this weekend to get a feel for what it's like, and Easy Does It is my plan. I registered for Taps Across America https://www.tapsacrossamerica.org/ today for Memorial Day 2023, but it remains to be seen If I'll be able to participate.
I wish you a remarkably good recovery and the best of health!

RE: Put Down The Duckie
@ssmith1226 Single brace on outer tuning slide, what appears to be an Amado water key on a "C" shaped tuning slide, no adjustable 3rd slide apparatus, no apparent bulge nor reflection from what would be the hexagonal end of the mouthpiece receiver. Probably not a Bach. No irregularity/reflection where the 3rd slide stop limit screw would be found on a Yamaha, either.
Here's a blurry video of probably the same horn. A ring on the 1st valve slide and dents in the bell:

Further sleuthing is indicated.

RE: Speaking of AI....
@administrator Hopefully at some point you will reveal the prompts you used.

RE: Speaking of AI....
@ssmith1226 When I saw these last night, I thought "Generate images that would induce screaming nightmares in those who viewed them." The question was about prompts for each image, though, and for that I have no answer.

Succinct posts are praiseworthy; they leave more time for us to play our trumpets. Backing down from animosity saves stress; clicking the "Ignore" button in our brains helps enable this and keeps civility predominant on TrumpetBoards and elsewhere.

@jolter Many thanks for your clear, comprehensive, concise, easy-to-understand explanation!

RE: A little humour
@newell-post Yes, there was construction, but not necessarily requiring a wide turn. Also, this driver started from the left lane without signaling for a right turn and without checking to see if there was traffic in the right lane. If the car had continued the path of the front wheels, it would have hit the marker as well. Such collision was not to be, however, as the driver turned left at the next light.

RE: Bots are getting scary
From a layman's perspective, does not electronic communication rely on electric pulses perfectly following their paths with the precise voltage and duration? And considering the physical size of the hardware, is it possible that electronic pulses can, due to extreme miniaturization, sometimes follow a path not intended by its designers, creating unexpected errors which can be difficult to trace or replicate, yet nevertheless cause a program to function abnormally?

RE: Bots are getting scary
@jolter How encouraging. People's reputations, health, and lives are at the mercy of junk programming. So how can this problem be overcome? Can it be overcome, or will it be a cyber-endemic disease?

RE: Forced Layoff
@barliman2001 Well, this video posted 12 years ago, so we can incorporate more recent events to bring ourselves up to date. It's still informative, and the sense of humor is a nice touch.

RE: Trumpet slide grease
@henrylr I understand that you're going to sell this trumpet and want to know if what you have on hand will suffice, as opposed to having to buy an additional product. Considering the condition of the horn, wouldn't it be best to sell it with the proper lubricants? Never mind that the new owner may decide to clean it out and redo all the lubricants, and never mind that buying the right slide grease will diminish your return on the price by about ten dollars; it's just good practice to sell any merchandise without undisclosed issues or cutting corners. Besides, you'll have the slide grease to use on other instruments.
