RE: Artist on BOARD

The trick to photography is to pick good subject matter and click, am I right?
In photography framing the image in a way that transcends the subject into an image that evokes an emotional and/or cerebral response makes the difference between a photo/snapshot and something more. Choice of lighting, juxtaposition, and color or grayscale balance/contrast contribute to the impact of the image as well.
In the past, when photographers developed film instead of using a digital format, it was fairly routine to manipulate parts of or all of the image to suit the goal of the artist, and there were those who continued this process with programs such as PhotoShop, but the most evocative images today involve setting up the shot so that none of this is necessary.

RE: Fun with Scales
@Kehaulani See lower left. Two vertical lines. Typing the letter "k" does the same thing.

Everything in its season for me. Snow in winter along with aromatic fireplaces, fragrant flowers and pollen in spring, sweat in summer quenched by fizzy alcoholic beverages, and magnificent fall colors with a crispness in the air.

I don't recall seeing this one, and it appears too large to miss. Is it not in Parque Güell?

@Dr-Mark
At 83 I don't know how many years I have left, but I want to be a player for many more and I don't want the playing to stop because of a stupid injury. -

@Kehaulani Here ya go, Kehaulani:
My wife and I had the honor of meeting Count Basie and his lovely wife, Catherine, after one of his concerts.
Sometimes an anecdote summarizes someone's character, and the one I recall follows:
As you know, Count Basie was fond of wearing his trademark nautical captain's caps, and while he was in an airport with his entourage, an elderly lady came up to him and, not knowing who he was, thinking that he was a porter, asked him to pick up her luggage and come with her. Which he did. When he returned, a young member of his group (It's important to note that this was in the mid-1960s, when racial tensions were very high.) asked him why he carried this old White woman's luggage, why he didn't tell her who he was, and how dare she presume he was a mere porter just because he was Black and wearing a cap. To which Count Basie replied: "What are you talking about? The lady obviously needed help with her luggage. She couldn't manage it by herself, and I was able to help her, so I did!"

RE: A little humour
@SSmith1226 A friend of mine in college used to laugh his ass off (pun intended) listening to this.

Let's not forget that infamous musician, Le Pétomane, satirized in Blazing Saddles. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Pétomane

And so the strange red sky cleared up and people began posing for photos in happy fun antics of joy.

@Niner Thanks for this. My license has a star. Didn't notice it before your post.

RE: Jazz Song #2 - Take Five
Big deal. I watched Tony Montana.
But seriously, I did see Dave Brubeck and Sons on tour in the early-to-mid 1980s. I hadn't expected them to be as good as they were without Paul Desmond. A very pleasant surprise.
