According to Giancarlo's father, after a day in court that was prolonged by Lynn Fogarty's attorney's pleas, questions, motions, and objections, some of them absurd, the judge sentenced her to the maximum allowable term: 10 years. Unfortunately, he then suspended 6-1/2 years of the sentence, committing the killer to 3-1/2 years in prison. This enraged her attorney, who had tried to get her punishment reduced to a fine of $2500.

@SSmith1226 I'd be interested in taking a look at your ensemble arrangements.

RE: For those who remember gunshowtickets
I spoke with Giancarlo's dad a few minutes ago, and he said that the sentencing of Lynn Fogarty will take place as scheduled on July 1, at 9:00 AM at York County Circuit Court, 300 Ballard St., Yorktown, VA 23690. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. Hopefully there will be no more delays and that the judge will hand down an appropriate sentence.

I am in possession of Ye Olde Browne Thumb. If plants can't make it on their own on my property, they don't make it at all.

RE: Trumpet Board Remote Performance
I am well behind the technological curve here, but perhaps some of our more savvy members know how to do this. It would take a user-friendly platform and an organizational plan to include participants as appropriate, with a somewhat specific goal for each performance. It would take knowledge, time, effort, and cooperation to make it happen.

RE: Artist on BOARD
@BigDub Good art is said to be evocative. To have your painting immediately make me think of a salmon run is uncanny. Bravo!

RE: New Player has entered the Game - Part 2
A qualified teacher can resolve a lot of mysteries for you and keep you on track to avoid mistakes and techniques you'd have to unlearn as you try to improve. At least start with a cyber trip to eBay, and purchase a Rubank Elementary Cornet & Trumpet Method book. It's the first of a series, and it provides the necessary musical perspective you're looking for. Besides, these Rubank books usually cost well under $10, including shipping.

RE: did he play or didn't he ?
@Kehaulani said in did he play or didn't he ?:
I still remember the first time I ever saw him. It was a character on some 50s 1/2 hour B&W program where he was a member of an Army squad, where the people bullied him.
At the end of the show, some members decided they would throw a dud hand grenade and feign panic and see what he would do. When they didn't scatter, he threw himself on the grenade, willing to give his life up for his squad.
They just stood there looking at each other being humbled and moved by Sammy's unselfishness. It was very moving, and I had an eye on Sammy ever since.
I have never forgotten that episode. Here's more info: http://tviv.org/General_Electric_Theater/The_Patsy and https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0586346/fullcredits

@Kehaulani Yup. Maybe some things bear repeating.

RE: Seeking input on Rules
Keep TrumpetBoards a community. Most of us here are humans; we have lives, and virtually all things in our lives affect our approach to the trumpet to varying degrees, either directly, such as practice routines, techniques, etc. or subtly, such as health, approach to life, personality, musical preferences, and so on. There is and has been room for participation in varied subjects, some related to trumpet and some not.
We can demonstrate a willingness to help others and share with others that which interests us and find a commonality and diversity among us that enriches all. All knowledge is useful; it's what makes us continue to grow and mature in our trumpet playing and in all aspects of life itself.
I would not enjoy nor often participate in a forum that is restricted and reduced to a narrowly focused catalog of equipment and pedagogy. There are other trumpet websites that fit this description, and they have at best less the sense of community, and I daresay family, that we found on TrumpetMaster and now find on TrumpetBoards. We can have all the trumpet-related information and discourse possible here without resorting to being restricted to a membership of humorless, narrow-minded automatons.

RE: Is It Jazz or Is It Classical?
@Dr-GO "Lamenting"? Didn't you mean "commenting"?

RE: Is It Jazz or Is It Classical?
I've always heard a great similarity between Bach and Bebop, especially the in rhythms and the improv. Bach would have been an awesome Jazz musician IMO, and I think he would have loved the genre.

RE: A little humour
@Dr-GO Especially appropriate, considering other musicians' opinion of us.
