Ages ago I had a GT6 that looked very much like this one, only without the butchered roof and the stock muffler. I lowered it an inch, which made it corner quite well, to put it mildly, and with 3 SUs and a header, it was a madman when you used the go pedal. I sold it on the one and only day I didn't have to fix something on it:

It did not work. There were no disruptions as promised.
FWIW - The next time I went to the TB website after liking your comment, I encountered Server Error.

Very succinct and well-said. The story itself is indeed a good look at how American manufacturers have to combine many aspects of their businesses in order to function successfully. However, there are critical underlying factors that make CNET's motivation invite further investigation for those so inclined.

@georgeb That's not more uncommon than Chuck Daellenbach of Canadian Brass turning the tuba round 360° while playing the Tiger Rag... he's been doing that for almost forty years now...
That is the most spasmodic videography I have ever seen.

RE: Favorite Music
@georgeb The three of them appear to be playing Bach Stradivarius. My guess would be Model 72*, as that model has been popular with Jazz players, although a Model 43 or two is not out of the realm of possibility.
Louis plays a Yamaha YTR 6335RC these days, according to his website, as does Andy Greenwood, according to Yamaha.

Another thing here is that NO brand or make of trumpet is going to make a great player out of any of these students. Repetition of correct methods. Lots of repetition, even on a no name trumpet will do it.
Excellent point. Some of us started out on TSOs, and we weren't discouraged by the obstacles these hunks of tubing challenged us with. A good player will learn how to play regardless of the equipment. Of course, there comes a time when it makes no sense to fight an inferior instrument. At that point a substantial upgrade is in order, according to the student's ability and budget.

RE: Mission Impossible (Literally)
@ssmith1226 Hot! A nice, tight ensemble. The piano player ain't too bad, either.
I like his Mannix theme every bit as much as Mission Impossible.

RE: THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED
The concept of using persuasion instead of pressure in a culture of power, aggression, fear, and submission is naive. In such a culture, superior power and dominance is respected and provokes cooperation, while pleas for civil behavior are considered weak and deserving of ridicule and derision. There are those who understand this and are capable of exercising strength, and there are others who either disbelieve the reality of it or have no clue.

RE: About Olds Ambassadors
I owned two Ambassador trumpets, one average and one less than mediocre. I also played two of my friends' Ambassador cornets, one average and one less than mediocre. Sure, you can make them sound good and play decently, but why bother? I'd say spend more on a better horn that you don't have to overcome in order to get good results.
Dr GO's Olds Unicorn, labeled as an Ambassador, is the only exception that I know of. How many Unicorns did Olds produce?
Lee Morgan didn't continue to play his Ambassador; why is that?
