@Bob-Pixley
This is pretty much where I am, too. The band I am in calls for a lot of As and Bs below high C but only once have I been called on to play a C in an arrangement. And I couldn't always do it, even though I play a D over high C every morning in my practice routines.

RE: The New Reality
Yeah, this is cute. A bandmate, ( a female doctor ) who plays the Euphonium in our band sent this to me a few days ago. And she also plays trombone like the little girl in the video.

That was a marvelous production. Those truly talented musicians put their heart and souls into this. I could feel the emotion of it all. Thanks for the clip, Steve. -
RE: Yiou gotta see and hear this
@Kehaulani
Your sister was quite a lady and sorry to hear she had a breakdown, but considering the kind of person she was, and the profession she was in, a breakdown is certainly understandable. She and others like her are very special people. -

I am sure happy to see that those health care workers are getting the kind of recognition they so deserve. Heroes, everyone. Same goes for pharmacists, first responders, the police, food store workers, etc. I have a whole new appreciation of these people.

RE: Lifetime quest finally paying off!
@Dr-GO
Thanks, Doc. Rest assured the respect is mutual. Like Dr. Mark said, we're all a little testy due this quarantine business. Right now I just rather play some music and see what my critic ( ME ) has to say. Trouble with ME is he never seems to be satisfied with my playing... -
RE: Lifetime quest finally paying off!
I have been following this thread because I found it mildly entertaining and only really took it seriously when Robin ( rowuk ) posted. Since then the entertainment value has gone down hill and I have a feeling Robin won't be making any new posts so my time here would be better spent on the process of playing my trumpet.

RE: The New Reality
I'm taking advantage of my band down time by transposing a handful of my favorite ballads to make them a bit more challenging. They are pieces like Black Orhpeus, Stella by Starlight, Laura, Stardust, etc., that I play quite often. Sometimes I go too far and have to go back a bit. Anyway, it's something to do.

RE: A Jazz Patriarch Has Passed. Covid-19 Test Pending
I hope Wynton and his siblings stay safe. That is so sad about his dad.

RE: Unbelievable. Too young and for no reason.
Yeah, from what is happening world-wide, you just don't have to be an old fart like me to get this cursed virus. Stay safe, guys.

RE: Happy Birthday Herb Alpert!
Ah, yes, happy birthday to Herb, who was one of ( if not the ) richest trumpet players in modern history. And he is a good generous man with his riches, too. Although I feel he was underrated, in my book he was a damn good trumpet man.

RE: The Berklee Channel!
@Dr-Mark
Stuck in a shelter is right. I miss my band mates and many of my musical friends who would get together with me on weekends to jam a bit. So now all I do is play for myself and that ain't good because I am constantly picking my playing apart...

RE: The Berklee Channel!
Yes, some really interesting looking videos there. Thanks, Dr.Mark. Nice to see you posting again.
