started with a non-descript Conn. By middle school (8th or 9th grade) upgraded to an Olds Recorder. Loved the horn -- it was stolen while traveling.
I used Colin's Advanced Lip Flexibilities in High School (1960s) - Switched to Earl Irons in the 80s. Currently I alternate my daily warm ups relative to sources and routines - but they always include long tones and flexibility exercises

Half of us are going to come out of this quarantine as amazing cooks. The other half will come out with a drinking problem.
I used to spin that toilet paper roll like I was on Wheel of Fortune. Now I turn it like I'm cracking a safe.
I don't think anyone expected that when we changed the clocks we'd go from Standard Time to the "Twilight Zone".
Home-schooling is going well. Two students suspended for fighting and one teacher fired for drinking on the job.
I'm SO excited--it's time to take out the trash. What should I wear?
Still haven't decided where to go for Easter--The Living Room, The Kitchen or The Bedroom...

I merely mentioned Fort Carson because of its influence on the local culture and economy, The focus of my search and submission was the tune itself in the context f the thread.

America the Beautiful
I have lived in Colorado since 1952. But born in Waterloo Iowa. Therefore:
I consider my warm up exercises to be equivalent to Tai Chi. Years ago (many) i learned a basic short form of Tai Chi. When traveling for teaching, i would use it for centering and relaxation. Got out of the habit. Now, without any concerts or performances on the horizon - i am relying on basic warm ups and long tones to center my thoughts on the trumpet -- it is very like Tai Chi.
Sheltering here at home - watching our 5 year old and 8 year old grandchildren. Reading the posted discord resulting from a simple invitation to have some fun reminds me of the constant discord between my grandchildren.
@flugelgirl
I have the hard copies of the Books (three editions). I have noticed discrepancies in the keys. I will often play the lead sheets from my hard copies only to find the the chord changes on the computer
and even the tonalities are completely different in the computer play back. I have adjusted the tonality - but then i find the chord changes are different. Years ago when i first started using the service - i did not have this problem. Is there something i am missing.?

This is not a hijack -- just an example.
Our jazz band is rehearsing Oliver Nelson's "Hoe Down" for performance in March. Measures 20 and 21 is a bebop riff appregio up and down that is very difficult - especially at fast tempo. I have been playing it very slowly to get the notes in my head and let my fingers and embouchure coordinate. It is still difficult -- my plan is to keep practicing slowly until i do not have to think about it. The tempo is much faster than Liberty bell and the riff comes immediately after the main theme statement -- so there is no time to think or prepare -- it has to be automatic --I saw other responses above that reinforce that -- practice until you don't have to think -- because sometimes you simply do not have time.
@GeorgeB We have programed Liberty Bell several times for performance in our Community Band. Trumpet section averages about 10 players. I am not familiar with all of the parts (1,2 3 ) but possible issues may be:
What tempo is being used? This is a traditional 120+- type of march. Playing it faster may cause some issues.
Depending on the part- lower parts (2and 3) may have some fingering combination or sequence issues. Look for alternative fingering solutions.
Don't play too loud - loud playing and fast fingering are often cross purposed. Try practicing softer and slower until precision and muscle memory are established.
