What is CNC? I suppose someone else might want to know as well.....? Or am the only one in the room?
Computer Numerical Control.
Commonly used in machining devices where a computer tells the device what to do. Very handy for making mouthpieces, among other stuff.
Thank you veery much.
Sorry, I couldn’t resist. -

Look as if the tracks are listing around car #3. Any chance the painting can be repainted to fix the problem with the tracks... This will make me feel much better... as I have a one track mind.
Here is a little something I did. Just finished today, DrGo, with your inspiration. Maybe I fixed some things, added some, took away others?
Dale, forgive me for straying a little from Railroad enthusiast's exactness of the engine.i sort of created my own. Some of you may recognize the location of this? -
RE: Vernacular (of range)

I think you guys are just proving OldSchool's point. I used to teach pilots about electromagnetic theory. A typical fighter radar's frequency band depends on whom you're talking to:
ITU - Super High Frequency (SHF)
EU/NATO/US ECM - I band
IEEE/Radar builder - X bandThree different names for the same thing. To make it worse, ITU and IEEE can't even agree on the definition of UHF.
So I told pilots they should ask for numbers instead of names.
Without memorizing all the frequencies, it would seem the next best approach would be:
Suffice it to say a lot of ink would be saved if you were to show the ones that are in my arsenal.....

@BigDub Good art is said to be evocative. To have your painting immediately make me think of a salmon run is uncanny. Bravo!

@BigDub I get the feeling the water is going to drain out and leave the creek bed dry!
Thank you very much! Have no fear, there’s plenty of water and no danger of it draining in the near future!

RE: Zoom and Trumpet Boards
This is a twofold post. I wanted to share this YouTube video of a former Elementary music student of my Wife's, who taught here in Hillsborough for 40 years. He's all grown up now and a professional Horn Player. He did this 6 part video of his own arrangement. It is rather amazing and jaw dropping, if you ask me. Stay with it. It definitely gets better and better! Now the other thing, I would love to see something like this from a few brave players here, either alone or combined together. What he did. That technology would seem to work, no?

RE: Dr. Mark, now A Former User
Can you please keep him at that status? I have had my fill of him as well, some personal abuse I might add.

@BigDub What?!?!? No salmon?!?
Called To WanderActually, this is from a photo I took in Kechikan, Alaska and it is, indeed a Salmon run. We saw some but I didn’t choose to include any in the painting.

RE: Getting straight what I can and cannot do
This is all both amazing and extensive, Kehaulani. I hope there is no indication from my responses and posts that would infer any disrespect or lack of admiration on my part.
I think I just need clarification as to why you felt the need to put all this out there. Did you feel slighted or disrespected by someone at some point here?
I think I would have the same respect for you if you were a comeback player and couldn’t quite nail the Bb major scale yet.
Also, these are only words on a screen to me. Never have I seen any of these arrangements, nor heard any of this playing by you or your various groups, so there is a bit of a void in this whole resumé. This is only to say, I would LOVE to hear or see something more from you. That's my take on it. It’s not a challenge or rebuttal, but more of a desire on my part.......I'm a bit of a visual person....
My days as a student were difficult because of my learning style as well. Write it down and I will struggle. Show me or let me hear it, and I am halfway there. See? -
RE: Railroad Photography
Some people got a little over exuberant about the Railroad and the Parcel Post benefits. After this happened, they had to be a little more specific about what you could ship!

Here is an archive photo of the Belle Mead Station when it was still operating for passengers.

@BigDub WOW!!! That reminds me of the station I used to use when visiting my grandparents near Philly. We took the train all the way to 69th St.
This is the Boise, Idaho station. I walked there from the house in Boise to take those pictures, by the way. Passenger service ended about 20, 25 years ago but the building is so beautiful they now use it for a museum and people can rent it out for events. The trains never stop there anymore. -

A few more...
I especially like the really old engines. Very nice. Are these your own or were they from another source?

RE: Railroad Photography
Yes. There is a chance. To quote from the highly acclaimed movie, Dumb and Dumber, “ So, there is a chance?”
I suppose I could, and yes, I see what you mean. This painting is about 40-45 years old and I have no idea who owns it right now. I also have plenty of issues with it, not the least of which is the leaning third car.
Hmmm. This has just laid down a challenge to me and I think I might just try and redo this one. Yes, I just might. -
RE: Railroad Photography
Here are some shots of a long abandoned, historic train station not 10 minutes from my home. Here you see the north bound side and south bound side. The north bound station is where the tracks are on the right side of the picture. This is Belle Meade, New Jersey. One could easily commute in comfort and without stress to NYC inside an hour from here. Parking was free, too.

RE: Railroad Photography
The Hopewell, NJ train station, where our community band does about 4 concerts each summer, weather permitting.
Almost every concert is visited by at least one passing freight train. The station is no longer in operation for passengers.
