RE: Spread the Word and Help Lower my Blood Pressure
I wish I was a rich man. -- Incorrect grammar
I wish I were a rich man. -- Correct grammarWhy? The phrase above uses the verb "to be" in a positing manner, thus requiring the use of the subjunctive conjugation. Were and not was is the subjunctive of "to be."

RE: Buy your horns here, not there!
@Newell-Post said in Buy your horns here, not there!:
Please add Hornucopia, 1549 Laurel St, San Carlos, CA 94070. I know it is not one of the "usual suspects", and they don't have an online store (to my knowledge). But everybody in the San Francisco Bay area knows the place. Sandy has the most amazing inventory of professional trumpets and trumpet stuff I have ever seen, except for Dillon.
A phone number or email would probably help potential buyers. Thanks!

Buy your horns here, not there!
Please make a list of great places to buy trumpets, cornets, flugelhorns, accessories, etc. Also, if you feel the need to warn potential readers of a shady seller, this would be the place for that (defamation will be removed, please just leave legitimate experiences).
List so far:
Online (or in-person; ask the shop):
Austin Custom Brass (ACB)
Wichita Band Instrument Co.
Woodwind Brasswind
Dillon Music
The Brass Cellar
Washington Music
Baltimore Brass
themoosehorns (eBay store)
Carl's Pro Band
Thompson Music
The Horn Trader

RE: Possegger Custom Trumpets?
I have heard of them, but never seen one live or had the opportunity to play one. Sounds like a cool horn. Looks sort of Monette-y.

As far as blood pressure goes, a little exercise goes a long way...

RE: Monetization of/for TrumpetBoards
I've been swamped lately but I'm still working on getting an easy "one-click" method going. Give me a bit more time
Gonna lock the thread for now.

I use to be on TM but got fed up with a jerk named rowuk. What good is quality information when it's served on a shit sandwich. No one likes being belittled or being made to feel stupid regardless of the pearls of wisdom offered up.
Dr.MarkHe's here too, actually, and I would welcome his input.

I apologize in advance if this post should have been placed under “Pedagogy”, perhaps under “James Stamp” or “Medical Concerns” subcategory “Hernias”. I was going through some files I had saved 2 years ago and found this one. I don’t recall where it came from. It could have been from TM or some other site. Never the less, I thought that the lessons that could be learned were so worthwhile that it should be resurrected in spite of the hernia risk.
This is great. Would you start a new thread with this? Haha...lounge of course.

RE: Monetization of/for TrumpetBoards
Thanks. I'll get a patreon set up to make it easy and secure. Just give me a few days or a week.

RE: Bugles Across America
Certainly you can't fault those who do their best.

RE: I was a member of the old Trumpetmaster board once.
I want to grow it as quickly and as large as possible. I am working on learning these things. You must realize that I am a professional programmer. I write software for other people to promote. TB has been a learning experience for me so far.
Also, I am not the owner of trumpetmaster. I can't do anything about that site. Sorry!

RE: Bugles Across America
Thank you for serving. I recently had the opportunity to go to my grandfather's funeral. He was definitely an American patriot and served in the National Guard of Missouri. I very much love and miss this man. When we arrived at the graveside to inter his body, there was a local veterans unit there to give him the gun salute (I don't know exactly how many shots were fired.) One man had a fake bugle, and it was my privilege to tell him that his services were not necessary, since I would be performing taps on a real bugle. That was a great experience.

RE: Absence explained (mother passed away...)
I love to walk through graveyards. Is that weird?
Well, anyway, to me, they are very sacred places. It reminds me that every single headstone was once a living, breathing person, with feelings and desires just like us. Even the little babies who died had a mother who loved and probably grieved deeply over her loss. Studying world history is fun, but studying individual history is profound and moving. It also reaffirms my deep belief in the eventual resurrection of all mankind. I hope you can find some peace, @ButchA .

RE: Trumpets Made ONLY by Their Maker
This is also how I feel about products, in general, and their country of origin. I'm not going to get into a political debate here. However, I am not a nationalist. I believe that our world is, more or less, a global economy and market. I have owned Bachs, which are 100% American-made; Bill Pfund trumpets, which are mostly made in China and modified by Mr. Pfund; Yamahas, which are made in Japan; Getzen, which are 100% American-made; Scherzer, which is 100% German (I believe) and various others which I cannot remember. They were all fine instruments. Quality is quality, and is worth the money.

RE: Trumpets Made ONLY by Their Maker
Supra is a popular sports car. The original was manufactured by Toyota in in the 90s and early 2000s. It quickly became a legend, thanks, in part to the Fast and Furious movie. Recently, Toyota released a new version, which happens to be largely based on a BMW sports car. It's a good car, but some enthusiasts have expressed discontent over the lack of "purity." However, it is a moot point in my mind. A good car is a good car--whoever the manufacturer may be! I think the same is true for the trumpet. It might be fun to speculate or talk about things like "who bakes their own bread with wheat they grew in their backyard," but it really doesn't matter.
