Thank you for serving. I recently had the opportunity to go to my grandfather's funeral. He was definitely an American patriot and served in the National Guard of Missouri. I very much love and miss this man. When we arrived at the graveside to inter his body, there was a local veterans unit there to give him the gun salute (I don't know exactly how many shots were fired.) One man had a fake bugle, and it was my privilege to tell him that his services were not necessary, since I would be performing taps on a real bugle. That was a great experience.

RE: Absence explained (mother passed away...)
I love to walk through graveyards. Is that weird?
Well, anyway, to me, they are very sacred places. It reminds me that every single headstone was once a living, breathing person, with feelings and desires just like us. Even the little babies who died had a mother who loved and probably grieved deeply over her loss. Studying world history is fun, but studying individual history is profound and moving. It also reaffirms my deep belief in the eventual resurrection of all mankind. I hope you can find some peace, @ButchA .

RE: Trumpets Made ONLY by Their Maker
This is also how I feel about products, in general, and their country of origin. I'm not going to get into a political debate here. However, I am not a nationalist. I believe that our world is, more or less, a global economy and market. I have owned Bachs, which are 100% American-made; Bill Pfund trumpets, which are mostly made in China and modified by Mr. Pfund; Yamahas, which are made in Japan; Getzen, which are 100% American-made; Scherzer, which is 100% German (I believe) and various others which I cannot remember. They were all fine instruments. Quality is quality, and is worth the money.

RE: Trumpets Made ONLY by Their Maker
Supra is a popular sports car. The original was manufactured by Toyota in in the 90s and early 2000s. It quickly became a legend, thanks, in part to the Fast and Furious movie. Recently, Toyota released a new version, which happens to be largely based on a BMW sports car. It's a good car, but some enthusiasts have expressed discontent over the lack of "purity." However, it is a moot point in my mind. A good car is a good car--whoever the manufacturer may be! I think the same is true for the trumpet. It might be fun to speculate or talk about things like "who bakes their own bread with wheat they grew in their backyard," but it really doesn't matter.

RE: Trumpets Made ONLY by Their Maker
A maker by very definition makes the thing they are maker of. The question really asks, "are there any trumpets where all of their parts are made and assembled in-house?"

Guys, no offense intended, but I think this forum has to elevate itself a little bit above just jokes and pretty pictures before it would be taken seriously enough to justify outside financial support.
At the moment, we're just a bunch of happy campers who've found a replacement for our beloved TM (RIP). So none of us is asking how to blow double C's in a week or if a new mouthpiece is the solution to our woes (since we have none, or at least few). It will take time for new folks who do have questions or want to discuss serious issues to find us -- it would help if a Google search for "Trumpet forums" would point to TB. At this point we don't appear in the search results at all.
Yeah. Can't do a whole lot about that yet.

RE: Monetization of/for TrumpetBoards
Kehaulani is correct. Realize that trumpetherald doesn't even do this. They have ~40,000 registered users. We have 165. There isn't really a market here, I'm afraid.

RE: Monetization of/for TrumpetBoards
@Shifty it does, but minimally. I'll create a Patreon account. If we get enough donates I can even cut the ads altogether. Doesn't need to make a profit. Just needs to cover the server costs.

RE: Monetization of/for TrumpetBoards
There might be a way. I will look into options.

RE: Absence explained (mother passed away...)
Condolences for your loss. At least you are back. I don't make money on this site (right now I actually am losing a small amount) but I try to keep it running for the community. We'll keep on growing with your help.

Aw, shucks. I suppose you should have learned some English first.

Interesting! I can't read French, however, but I can tell that it looks like fun!

Certainly attitudes got worse after they became federalized.
When was the Transportation Security Administration not federal?
It used to be Feral.

@administrator we can't disclose just yet but the best answer is not exactly... we have options now even though Anderson stopped.
I ask because I love my Radial, however, it is in serious need of a restoration. Especially the valves

I don't know what this has with "Humor", but since we're on the subject of TSA - in my travels, I've been met with both horrible conditions and people, and easy ones. To me, it generally had to do with location. I.e., TSA in New York as abdominal and rude while TSA in Honolulu was fine.
That seems to be representative of the general populations in those places.

I don't know I just think that giving the response of "I'm feeling suicidal today," to the cashier's question "How are you?" Just doesn't seem quite right.
Especially when embarking on an airline flight.........
The only thing the TSA encourages is misery!

RE: Today's crazy Maynard piece
Boy, I hate to say it, but this is disgusting. Maynard was such a monster of a player, but he really did not always take on the "tastiest" projects.
