@Kehaulani My wife and I had the honor and pleasure of seeing and hearing him in an intimate nightclub atmosphere in the mid 1980s. Besides being an awesome musician, he was also humble about his music. Whenever he finished a tune, he held out his sax as if to say: "It's all in the horn; I just bring it out."

                  Hi SSmith1226,
                  The Michael Camilo is great!
Notice how the harmony tells the melody how to feel? He could have used big fat major chords to make it happy sounding but didn't. People forget just how powerful the harmony is.
How strong is it? Its strong enough to tell the melody what to do.

This is the music that my parents instructed me not to like when I was a kid. Lotta good that did!

I was stupefied by the girl that played the first tune. She played all the right notes but emphasized the beat! 0f770007-0479-46cf-8472-115f864541f3-image.png It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!
Other than that... I couldn't help but smile. Apparently neither could anyone else. Happy, joyful music!

How about nostalgia? A band from my college days in the mid 60's who played at fraternity sponsored parties. They did a better job of this Johnny Rivers hit than Johnny Rivers. I can't listen to this tune without some part of it coming back to me hours later like acid indigestion....only Rolaids aren't needed.

This is a really cool lesson for improvisors. Around 0.21, Orianthi is playing just for Michael and she's playing a gazillion notes. Michael cuts off the band and makes her stop noodling and play (say) something. Music isn't measured by the number of notes played. How many times have you seen a musician noodle instead of saying something? Probably too many times! However, on a side note, she's a super badass on guitar.

On a more serious note, here is the Swedish, KOOP. It was a hit a couple of years ago at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy. Heard it coming out of many stores every night. Ah. Gelato, Pulchritude and KOOP. What more could a person ask for.

Surprise. This "band" is made up of only two guys and everything is sampled, except for the vocals, no small feat.

Very energetic. Makes me think of this:

After going to one of his concerts a couple of years ago, I remarked that Peter Frampton used to be a spectacular guitarist, but he's gotten better since then. Unfortunately:

Frampton Alive was one of my favorite albums in the mid to late 70’s. He was and is a great musician!
