Where do you get this outcome. What if the two wolves and sheep voted on the carrots in the farmers garden as their dinner choice? That is an entire different member of the biological phylum, right?

Isn't that the definition of political discussion?
No. Here is the definition of political discussion: Political criticism (also referred to as political commentary or political discussion) is criticism that is specific of or relevant to politics, including policies, politicians, political parties, and types of government.
We have had none of this in our discussion revolving around the 4th.

BTW, doesn't anyone have any questions about things trumpet or musical?
Yes, and I refer you to those topic threads. This one was titled "Happy 4th of July" a rather non-trumpet specific title and I do believe this thread is open to non-trumpet content as well and still be within the context of this thread.
Kehaulani, hope you had a wonderful 4th, and the anxiety of all the fireworks going off around you did not lead to some of the agitation you are feeling as I read your response to the content of this thread.

@J-Jericho said in Happy 4th of July!:Do away with Electoral College, and we'll have a true democracy, which is defined by two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner.
Excellent analogy J.
No it's not. It presupposes that the third party is a lamb. What if they're all wolves or all sheep? Works in other counties and is a heck of a lot more democratic. I'm tired of the premise of "one man, one vote" being a farce.
Which is precisely the problem. Pure democracy will not work because it is easy for tyrants to convince the weak, the ignorant, and the stupid to support them in order to eliminate the competition. A lot of that can be done by pulling the old bait and switch.

Well, my initial post did have a vintage cornet in the photo, along with a few other band-related items. Where it went from there, I had no control over...

I give up. I leave you folks to talk about what a forum called "TrumpetBoards is really about.
I see TrumpetBoards as being REALLY ABOUT trumpeters that have a life. We are a multi-dimensional group of individuals, many of which toot many different horns, so to speak.

Patience. We are growing everyday.

One thing that TH has that would help is a vibrant marketplace. How can we grow that?

Well, I can certainly make changes to the software end of things. The thing is, however, it doesn't make a big difference how good the site is if nobody uses it. That's the thing about forums: there must needs be a critical mass of users before it becomes steadily trafficked. We are far from that point.

But, I mean, from a software standpoint, I'm a very good developer. I could make a better site than Reverb. Yes, I said that. But, I am confident in my abilities ;). However, the question usually comes down to: how should I spend my time? Software takes a lot of that.

FWIW, we had a great 4th of July. Hung out with lots of good friends, the kids all went swimming and had some very successful fishing, we ate too much good food and shot off a lot of fireworks. The boys all fell asleep in the car driving home, which means it was a wildly successful 4th.
Also listened to my patriotic playlist that includes lots of Sousa, which is always great.

I had a great 4th also. There were more fireworks than ever thanks to the "bans" on public gatherings.

I noted the EXACT same thing. AND from the comfort of my back deck... with adult beverages and no worry as to security taking them away from us!
