@barliman2001 Yes, it did, and it produces the same reaction in those familiar with Communism. Music is a powerful form of communication, sometimes deeper than words alone.

In Germany, I had a girlfriend who is Russian, and who returned very year to Mother Russia. I bought her a music box one Christmas of the "Internationale". Her reaction was very moving. Music can have ways of touching people nothing else can.

A medical student I was teaching just found were he matched for residency training. He was so excited but saddened that he would be leaving the Dayton area he wanted to share a memory with me from a few years back

After he finished a course I was teaching on lipid metabolism during his first year of medical school, at the end of a semester. he wanted to get back to focusing less on medicine and more on music. So he invited me over to his home and we recorded an iTunes song performed by his sister, with him putting down drum, guitar and keyboard tracks, and me on Flugelhorn.

After that session, he wanted to do a version of "Fly Me to the Moon", no music in front of us and here is what we did, unrehearsed and in one take:

I really enjoy your playing, Dr. What is that Flugelhorn you are on? I know your trumpet is a Harrelson, I do remember that.

@administrator Thanks for the appreciation. That is my Kanstul 1526 4 valve with a 3C Flip Oakes mouthpiece. That combination gives such a buttery tone and phrasing textures.

I appreciate the appreciation. My sound is only as great as the players that surround me. I am lucky that way to be in the presence of excellent musicians. They show me the way to go. On the cut above, the guitar strumming and chord voicing directed the attack and imrpov direction I would follow. That's what I just love about playing, is getting into a conversation with others, and over the years learning how to best communicate among players. Of course practicing every day for over 50 years probably helps a bit too.

Practicing everyday for 50 years is everything, Doc.

I often wonder what kind of player I would have been today had I not stopped playing for 50 years. I truly believe the hardships I suffer in my playing today at age 85 would not be there.

Don't ever give it up, Doc.

Wow! BigDub is holding out on me. I did a search on Google and found this solo recording by BigDub on a song I wrote for which I sent him the manuscript. And to my amazement, he has recorded it. Very nicely done BigDub!

Absolutely great work by Wayne. And let me also say that you have written a beautiful piece of music, Doc.

And, if Wayne is reading this, perhaps he would like to send me a pdf file of that arrangement. He has my e-mail address.

The only other individual that has this manuscript other than BigDub and my band mates is Chris Botti. I gave a copy to Chris at a concert I attended when he was in town. Never heard anything more since then.
