We're off to a good start

Well, everyone can find an internet home they are comfortable with. I've given this forum a good chance to show something substantial to benefit both inquirers and contributors, alike. But I haven't seen it raise any higher than a glorified lounge. I guess that's where it's going to lie.
To all those negative comments about Trumpet Herald, yes, it has it's "stars" and fair share of one-upmanship but that's real life. At least, in addition to gags and pretty pictures of gear, it gets around to having discussions on meaningful topics, from time to time.
I guess my main criticism of that site would be it's lack of meaty discussions on things musical, outside of gear. Sax on the Web, while also having it's fair share of gear stuff, gets down to the nitty gritty of musical tools and interpretations also.

Well, I would change it if I could, but finding more users to join can be challenging for a niche topic like trumpet. Still, I am trying to get the word out. Any help will be appreciated.

So what type of musical interpretation do you want to discuss? Usually the only "music", whatever music is, open to interpretation is jazz. Never been in a jazz discussion that ended well. If I don't like __________, I'm excoriated by those that do. I just don't "get it" or I would think the way I'm supposed to think. Who wants to participate in that? Unless one wants to expound on what motivated the great composers to write what they did, Classical seems pretty straight forward to me. I would find the history interesting, but most people aren't history buffs. How can we discuss music when we can't even define what it is? I'm game, but I'm not going to be belittled for having a differing opinion. THAT is what I dislike so much about TH. Some pompous ASS took pot shots at a maker I know in what was a tongue in cheek discussion of Blue Juice!!! So I let him/her have it and I was asked to only respond in pm's so the post wasn't ruined. What a buffoon!

The moderators over THere removed all of the trolls posts and posted a cease and desist order!

For all of the snootiness on TH - and there was more there than at TM - there is still a fair amount of "what's the best tape to make my mouthpiece fit better and how many wraps should I use ?" type threads.
This site may still be above the mean in pull-my-finger posts as reflects the nucleus of long-ish term members at TM who have perhaps seen enough of the stock discussions and had more of a social focus. That may change as people stumble upon/into it. The fact that it is more of a community than a content store isn't necessarily bad, provided the content develops enough to bring in more scale.

Every message board/Facebook group/online community goes through similar life cycles, I think. The exception to that is when something big and new happens.
I post on an Alabama Crimson Tide board and the constant influx of new information keeps discussion fresh during the season, but the off-season generally sees the same topics resurrected each year.
On TH, there was a lot of excitement in the early days when you had Lawler, Eclipse, Zeus, GR, etc., coming to market. You also had some big name posters in those days too.
I also post on a Facebook group for band directors that is so overrun with questions about things you should have learned in undergrad that's hard to find anything of depth.
I think Pinstriper may be onto something about how things might change here as the site grows, but to me it's really cool to be in on the ground floor. I'm definitely enjoying the vibe here.

@administrator One thing that may help is apparently they are pre-rejecting / pre-banning people from registering at TH. I've been lurking there for months and finally tried to register starting last week. No amount of using the registration form or contacting the admins helps. I do see people slowly getting added to the new members list on their front page, so I'm not sure how they are choosing. But choosing they are. So perhaps Trumpet Boards will get enough refugees to help?
I do like this format a lot better anyway...

@bhornFree Pre-banning? Strange stuff. I'm not sure about that, but I don't care much for the format. I'm having a hard time getting this website onto Google, which can contribute to the slow growth.

@administrator Well who knows. Emails and registration forms go into space. Yes, usually I have to say something offensive first to you know, offend someone LOL. I'll still use it for info but it's frustrating to see posts you know you can add to and not be able to make an account. Maybe they know I used to play French horn?

If you know him and can communicate with him, I would suggest asking rowuk to participate. I miss his posts and, IMO, can do a lot of good.

I agree with Kehaulani’s suggestion about getting Rowuk to participate. His post were worth reading and generated a lot of good discussion. The kind of discussion that, I believe, could help this site improve its Google ranking.

I did a Google search this morning for "circle of breath" and Kehaulani's TrumpetBoard post regarding the "circle of breath" comes up 6th in the results. That's a good sign. By the way, ROWUK posted a reply to the "circle of breath" thread, which prompted my Google search. It's great to see him here.
