I feel like the "flat world" is more of a modern thing than anything else. Sort of like "I want to show everyone how different I am so I'm going to pick this silly non-issue to do so."

Well, my personal experience with a flat-Earther was 56 years ago, if you call that "modern".

I don't disagree there, but on that subject, I ran across this tidbit a while back from author Louis L'Amour, and thought it was interesting.

Well, I'm from a land that was populated by open-ocean sea farers who's navigational skills were astounding. Hitting Hawai' from Tahiti was a major feat. But none of that presupposes a round Earth.

@Kehaulani , the settling of Hawaii is an amazing story. My wife and I spent a two-week anniversary trip on Kauai in 2010, and it was so fun that we did it again in 2011. Got bits and pieces of the islands' story from locals and a kayak guide (we kayaked the Na Pali coast), but I bought a book on it before we left. Just came across it again the other day.

Outstanding. As beautiful as the Islands are, I always wondered how they could call Kauai the Garden Isle. I didn't think it was possible to characterise it that way. . until I visited it (from Oahu).

An elderly lady's husband passed away suddenly, leaving her a very large fortune. She started "having her time" again, had herself rejuvenated by surgery, botoxed and all the fibs of modern beauty culture, got herself a toy boy and the like.
Fast living uses up energy, so one day, she found herself in front of the Pearly Gates and rang the bell. St. Peter opened the gates a bit, glanced through the opening and slammed the gates shut again. She rang again, crying.
This time St. Peter opened the gate fully and came out to her, saying, "Oh, madam, I'm so sorry... I did not recognize you!"

Uh.......last I checked, Canada looks to be North and continues in that persuasion.
I actually have some friends in Canada. All work for Universities. Sasquatch is not involved in any of this.

Uh..........last I checked, the butt looks to be South of the head, Unless one stands on their said, head. We learned that in Medical School in the first quarter, so as to insert the tongue depressor into the correct orifice.

If this video is 'indicative', then you must be in a very small minority of Americans who may know anything about Canada.

grune, sadly this is true. When I was a graduate student at Colorado State, I would ski often at Copper Mountain where there would be large groups of "tourists" coming up to sky our Rockies. I rode a lift with a College student from Texas hitting the slopes for the first time, and I was reassuring him how great the snow was in Colorado. He said, Oh, sure, not surprising since Colorado was right on the border to Canada.
