You might remember I had mentioned having to do a cat portrait. Actually 3 cats....same client. Here are the three ( it might take two posts )
-
Here is a new piece. This is a lighthouse from NJ called East Point Light. From Cumberland County in the Delaware Bay
-
Great piece of work, Wayne. Man, that is one lighthouse where I'd actually pay to be the keeper.
-
@georgeb
Thanks, George.
You can do that, did you know?
You sign up by sending a one time payment of $100 ( USD) to the Light Houses of NJ, in trust with US Coast guard, fwd to Wayne R Mathisen Studio. And away you go!
Just kidding. I would never do that! I appreciate your kind words -

See you have been taking advantage of the legalized Marijuana laws in NJ and light-ing up there as well. A bit uninhibited you are.

Also note the light is out. In the lighthouse, that is.
I also figured the Brooklyn Bridge has been sold enough by now, so why
not start a franchise to be a lighthouse keeper? There are 37 lighthouses in NJ, so there’s plenty to go around. -
Aw, gee you were only kidding. I had already started to pack...

I will have to regroup, get up a lot earlier in the morning and think of something a little more clever to fool this guy.

Believe it or not, I have finally realized and have to concede that I have a bit of difficulty recognizing the difference between very dark blue and black. It has come up several times only recently but I would describe something as “black” and have everyone else who looks at it say, no, it’s dark blue!
I guess I will survive. I have so far.
I often wonder how each individual sees colors. Their green might be your blue. How would you know? You can’t get inside their brain. -
@bigdub
That's interesting, Wayne. I also have been told something I thought was black was actually dark blue. So I often wonder what other colors I am seeing wrong. Orange, is a color I am unsure of at times.George

@georgeb
Two examples that called attention to my Black/dark blue deficiency we’re most recently, a leather recliner we were giving away I described as black. My wife said, no, this is dark blue. The person who was getting it also concluded it was dark blue and so did her husband.
On our Alaskan cruise some five years ago the ship was Black on the majority of the hull bottom……to me, at least. No, it was a very deep indigo blue as told me by several people…
Usually I am able to see the error of my ways when I can see a known black object next to the object in question. Then it is clear to me. -
@bigdub Get checked for cataracts. They typically filter out some blue. I see blues and greens much more vividly since I had my cataract surgery last year. Also I see distance perfectly. Need variety of half frames for reading, computer, painting, and music. I really like how I see now.

I may have a solution to your dilemma. Go to YouTube and search for “Marcus Pincus the Tailor”. Choose the video called “The Tailor”. If you search specifically for “The Tailor” other videos will show up first.
If you watch this video, the comparative method solving your visual problem will be obvious. I am not posting it directly due to a language issue near the very end. If you are offended by crude language, in this case one word beginning with the 6th letter of the alphabet, then please don’t watch it. The below is a screen shot of the appearance of the video on YouTube. It is not a video link.
Thanks, and I hope it helps, or at least makes you smile. -

Ok, since it has been some time now since I have indulged you with any new things, here is one I a, currently wrapping up. It is for my nephew who wanted to give something to a friend who treated him to a week of skiing at Big Sky Montana. This is the mountain here. Lots of detail and a nice challenge.
-
Wow. Excellent work on all that detail.

I think I am happy with it. -
A new one I did just because I felt inspired.
