I am mostly an old Conn man so I don't know much about King instruments. In some rudimentary research I have discovered that most people when referring to a King Silver Flair are actually talking about the 1055. I have also learned that the serial numbers on a 2055 won't jive up with the King serial # list that is the most commonly found. Does anyone know how to date 2055T (SN 352xxx) ?
      Thanks,

      Ray Z

The highest authority that I know of in terms of how to date a king, would be the Hallmark channel. There have been several movies based on this topic, and they generally involve commoners, specifically American women who are either teachers governesses, ice skaters, bakers, candy makers, or perhaps even a maid, that fall in love with a king and vice versa. Generally the kingdom is an obscure small European pseudo-country in Alp like mountains where British English is the language of choice. The King, who often is widowed with an adorable daughter looking for a mother figure, is already engaged to a member of the royalty, who hates children, especially adorable princesses who are looking for mother figures. The fiancé is often a countess, but that engagement will break off before the end of the movie, and the king will marry his true love, the American maid.
If your question, “How to date a King” refers to how to determine the date the manufacture of a King trumpet, I’m afraid I can’t help you. I hope that the information that I have given you has helped you.😀

Thanks for the help Flugelgirl but this list seems to have the same problem I run into with other lists and that is that this serial number (352xxx) x refs to between 1956 and 1960 and I have been told that the 2055T didn't start production till after 1979.

I can't seem to get Conn-Selmer to respond to me with any help either.

I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone has a better source. I have a King 2280 euphonium with a serial number that starts with A and then six numbers. I can't find anything with reference to letters like that.

Using this from TH https://www.trumpetherald.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1367115 and a search on eBay, I'd guess MasterWannabe's 2055T is possibly a 1986-1987 model if it says Eastlake above the serial number, which would be perpendicular to the valve casing, but more likely an early 2000 or later, especially if the serial number is parallel to the casing. There's a claimed 2001 Silver Flair listed with serial number 85XXXX. A trumpet with a serial number starting with a 3 would almost have to have been manufactured in 2000.

Once again, using the information from TH, Richard III's euphonium appears to be simpler to decipher. 1995-2000 would be my guess, thinking that a letter prefix was used and thinking that an A could have been used for euphoniums instead of the S said to have been used for trumpets at the time.

I welcome corrections from those more knowledgeable on the subject.
