Rock, Pop, Classic 70's "Horn Bands" from back in the day?
-
Here's a topic that I think people might enjoy discussing...
Instead of the common orchestra setting, symphony setting, "community band" type of setting, does anyone else appreciate the classic rock 70's type of music that had a "horn section" in it?
Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, Ides of March, Lighthouse, Tower of Power, and of course the soulful sounds of Earth, Wind, & Fire...
Is it me, or has this type of genre faded away?
Edit: Here's a link to "One Fine Morning" by Lighthouse. Let's see if you can imbed You Tube clips in here:

Helped pay for college playing in a horn band. Heck, even Steely Dan was using horns back in the day!
-
I agree... Everyone had a "horn section" back in the day! Even if the band didn't technically have the instrumentation/members, they paid for a horn section and/or added them to tracks in the studio!
Must have been a great way to make a few bucks back then too!

How did you load the video?

This post is deleted! -
I just pasted in the You Tube link... No weird URL brackets or anything like that:
Here's Chicago's song "Does Anybody Really Know What Times It Is?"
-
Sorry to "piggyback" the thread...but yes, @Tobylou8 you can simply post a link to the YouTube URL. Nothing more than that. Also, you can "reference" a user with the "@" symbol.
-
@ButchA thanks for posting Butch. I saw them play at Concord Pavilion last year and they still sound great!

here's a Russian Cover band! Amazing! -
I'm not doing something right. The link works but the video player doesn't show up like ButchA's.
-
Working just fine for me Literally, just copy the URL from the browser and paste it in.
-
I'll try it again.
Alright, figured it out by hook or by crook. I deleted the Lion King, no offense to Louis, but I'm not sure he was around in the 70's!!

As long as the link works. Maybe I have a weird setting on my computer.

Figured out how to do it. don't know if it's how you do it, but it works!!

Nothing about Chase, the ultimate horn band, at least for trumpets? Their "Ennea" album was a commercial failure, but I kind of liked it. I couldn't listen to it every day but, you know, once in a while....
-
Not a very well known group, but they used horns!!
