Blessing Super Artist Trumpet

A person that I know, who knows that I am a trumpet player, brought me a Blessing Super Artist Trumpet, sn 107XXX (1961), to try for a few days. It has been sitting in a warehouse for years unplayed. The lacquer is in very good shape, there is no obvious red rot, and no obvious dents are seen. I didn’t clean it, but it plays well, although my 1964 Mt. Vernon Bach plays noticeably easier. At this time he doesn’t want to sell it, but obviously, that might change.
Does anyone out there know anything about these horns, the desirability of a 1961 model, and what a horn of this this might be worth. I have looked at eBay “sold” horns and in general the selling price ranges from $90, up to $1,000. From a historical perspective I know that Clifford Brown played a Blessing Super Artist, but it was a 1940’s or earlier vintage.

It’s a very nice instrument and has been in “suspended animation”, in storage for many years. Amazingly the valves and slides move with no lubricant For all those years.
I was able to find some older discussions on TH about the Blessing Super Artist but those discussions were about models 10-20 years older than this one. There is almost no information or opinions about the 1960’s models and beyond. It would be interesting to hear from someone knowledgeable about this manufacturer, model, and this era. -
I own a 1960 Super Artist and it's immaculate. It plays well and has a big sound to me. It was a students horn whose parents were well to do. Too much horn for a kid imo. It has a .468 bore but doesn't suck the life out of you. It is a little heavier than most my other Bb's but it is a fun horn to play. I haven't played it in a while and the only thing I can remember was 2nd valve sticking once in a while. I've seen them go for $2500 but that's been 10 yrs ago. It's a good horn imo. I would take that valve cover off though. Let us know what happens! BTW, outside of Clifford Brown, I don'r know who else with a big name used them.

Gorgeous horn! I'm a recovering vintage horn addict, so I probably shouldn't even be looking at this. I've never owned one or played one, but it was always on my short list. (Any pics of your '64 Mt. Vernon? I probably shouldn't look at them either.)

It is very comfortable and has two lounge chairs built in. It is not vintage, but is well balanced. If you ever come to Florida, I will let you try it out. We can play trumpet duets utilizing both lounge chairs.
