Very nice Conn 22B New York Symphony trumpet, made in 1929. The silver plating, both satin and polished, is in excellent condition, practically no dings in the horn. The A loop in the rotary tuning slide is dented, though, and the gold wash inside the bell flare is faded.

All the original accessories are there, including the small screwdriver to adjust the valve spring tension. Valves are in great shape, all slides, caps, etc. are free. The A stop rod and screw are missing. Case is in nice shape, too, but the handle is worn.

There aren't too many of these around in original nice condition this complete. I'm asking $375 plus $40 shipping/insurance to the lower 48 states. PayPal only, no international sales.

Hello Bob, you say you do not ship to foreign countries. Can't you make an exception for me? I really want to buy this beauty from you. I live in The Netherlands. A very nice country with a lot of tulips and windmills but with a lack of 22b's...

LOL. As a former resident of Germany, I imported many instruments and never had a problem. Just make sure that your PayPal has a good fraud insurance and get UPS to do the packing and then have them insure it.

Where some sellers have a problem is that, without a written O.K. regarding the actual shipping cost from the seller, they won't get the item sent from the seller. So this means one trip to the shipper for packing and cost estimate, then going home and waiting for an O.K. of the shipping cost to from the buyer, and then another trip to the shipper.

So, for some, the objection isn't regarding one having a foreign address rather than a bunch of running around that they don't really want to do. Depending on where the seller lives with respect to the shipper, he just might not want to mess with the running around.

The only way around this that I know, is for the seller to have a shipping charge that both parties agree to, regardless of the actual cost. In that case, take nothing for granted and have a solid paper trail.

I've sold horns and shipped them to Europe before, but once they leave the U.S., you lose a measure of security and confidence that they will actually make it to the buyer. The last one I sold (a 1954 Conn 80A) was shipped to a U.S. address and then delivered in person by one of his business associates who was travelling there anyway. That way, my liability ended at the U.S. delivery point.

I would like to take the risk; the instrument I shipped to Charlie Melk for a valve job did return without problems so I guess an insured shipping should be a possibility that this very Conn 22B once could be mine 🙂

                Let's do it Bob!

Hope you guys can make it work. If I didn't already have 3, I would have jumped on this. One of the very, very few instruments of that vintage that still has mainstream uses today.

                      Picture of the valves...
(I blotted out the last half of the s/n in the picture - the full s/n is on each valve)

I guess this instrument will remain a dream to me 😞

Over here in the Netherlands you just have to go to a post office, pay for the shipment including optional insurance and the parcel will be on it's way.
I can't remember which shipping company Charlie Melk used to send off my Olds Super but that shipment didn't had any problems.

Maybe someone over here has experience with international shippings?
