Not the version but I have another Shure wireless mic system and REALLY LOVE IT. This system I have and the mic on a flex rod that attaches nicely to the third valve slide.

Loved it. Other players with similar talent are Pete Rodriguez and Michael Rodriguez (actually not related).

      Thanks, Steve.

There have been several books written about Stachmo, and written by him, and there isn't many I haven't read with exception of the one this article is about. Don't know if it is till available but I am going to see if I can find it.

@georgeb I'd say that his interview skills are on par with his other abilities. He certainly knew how to make her reach deep inside for answers to his questions. Wynton really makes people not only think, but also enables them to discover things about themselves that they hadn't considered before.

Oh, yes, he was indeed an inspiration. It was because of him that I did a comeback in 2016 at the age of 79, and that was after a 50 year hiatus from playing the horn.

Ribbon mics remain my favorite for open horn or muted horn for recording.

Here is an extended edit with more trumpets:

I've been doing some recording, it just sounds like a highly processed trumpet to me. Like they used the same processing techniques on modern pop vocals(those people are robots). EG autotune recording and aligning multiple takes adjusting the timings. Dynamic equalization. Pretty much fed it straight into melodyne. Added massive verb on a sidechain gate.

I've listened to to them a bunch in the past. Very approachable for the player and very marketable for the public.

Yes, there are a few ringers.**
Lalo Schifrin, the composer, not only of Mission Impossible, but also Mannix, conductor and pianist does a great job. In the rest of the concert James Morison, in addition to trumpet, is also featured on flugelhorn and Trombone.

      **
Lalo Schifrin | Bandleader , Pianist
      Ray Brown | Double bassist
      Grady Tate | Drummer
James Morrison | Trumpeter, Trombonist, Flugelhornist
      The Münchner Rundfunkorchester | Orchestra

      @GeorgeB
James Morrison does an outstanding job utilizing circular breathing and alternate fingering to nail the long passage of supersonic triplet rhythm, I suspect, without having to use his tongue. Very Magical, no matter how he accomplished it!

Clark Terry is one of my trumpet heroes, and is probably one of the best Flugel players in the world. And nobody make it look easier.
He has an hour long video Course on Trumpet Playing on youtube which was great for comeback players like me. His section on buzzing with or without a mouthpiece, especially without is absolutely amazing.
I am using an ACB TA1 mouthpiece, developed by Trent Austin, a friend of Clark's, and it is mostly based on the mp Clark used through out most of his career, and it is a great worker for me.

Yeah, Doc, and I'd love to see and hear them all but the admission price...well...

And again, my trumpet teacher for 18 of the months when I lived in NYC was a prior alumnus of the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band, Claudio Roditi. The price Claudio charged me for an hour lesson... $20.00. Yes, my, how times have changed.
