It's surely light and lights up with just a whisper. I started with an 11B4, tried the wide rim 7 Bachs and finally gave the 3C Shew a try. Lately I've been focusing mostly on how my embouchure works and I start to believe bigger is better for me, I can put more lip inside the mouthpiece, and I'm getting attached to these:

I don't know or care for the specs; the 82E is a bit of an overkill, but the Holton feels really good.

PS: I bought a big batch of used and very old mps some months ago.

It also goes without saying that we lost all the hits from people following links for "help identify X trumpet" - we need to keep talking shop, maybe forcing some content build, like starting posts with the sole purpose of feeding the right keywords to Google bots... e.g. is the Olds Ambassador the best trumpet ever made?

@Kehaulani : I absolutely second your thoughts, and I think there is a reason for things being the way they are: most of the more interesting discussions on TM were started by someone looking for help or guidance or having doubts about something, and we don't have a lot of those posts yet. The site doesn't rank very high (= on the 1st page) if you type "trumpet help forum" on Google, so we have to stick around and wait a bit until the questions looking for recommendations on mouthpieces with built-in double Cs start falling.
Btw, I remember from TM that your Shew is a recent acquisition: how do you like it? (I've been playing mine for 2 years now)

@Brian-Moon : I prefer Yamaha over Bach, find them more confortable.

Yamaha has at least a 11A5 for piccolo, that I used for a moment with my regular trumpet, feels similar to the 7EW.

This beats hands down any of those "no pressure" videos with trumpets hanging from strings - and you get to drink the beer at the end.
      Prost!!

@BigDub : not at all! Childish would be to also translate it to Fudd speak so everybody would understand what I meant:

Txs! As I said, because my placement can be a bit extreme I always end up questioning it when things don't go very well, but the fact is that this is how I sound better - so the answer is still the same: more long tones!

I was also checking the waters for talibans and it looks like we are strangely still good.
(not a religious runt, I mean people that are absolutely sure about something that they read somewhere or that someone told them, based on some absolute scientific "facts", like the lack of muscle under the red of the lips)

@Brian-Moon : no, on the top lip. Bottom lip vibrates more than top.

Exactly what I think - my issue is that my 1/3 wants to be 1/4 if I let it slip and I always question myself about it when things are not so good in terms of range and endurance (it has been the case in the last couple of weeks). Looking for some reassurance 🎺

Red or no red? One third up, 2 thirds down? 50/50? considering the size of the rim, how many of you can really play without anchoring in the red? Up-stream, down-stream? Successful players with unorthodox embouchures? (and we can leave the slightly off-centered out, nobody really cares)

@Tobylou8 said in RIP Trumpet "Master":

I like to think things were generally a bit different in TM, and Trumpetboards.com is yet to experience its first (malevolent) trolling outburst.
