@Pinstriper Either you have something that no one else is said to have in your state or you are off your meds. The Oregon license is compliant with air travel now but not after a year from now. Just saying.

Turns out I am off my meds.

Oregon is currently issuing - and JUST STARTED issuing - an "enhanced" license that is still not real-id compliant.

Cop friend of mine told me mine was one of the first he has seen. And his assumption was these were real-id's. But they aren't. So this is new, just in time for them to scrap the whole shebang.

Oregon has resisted real-id for some time now - essentially since it was proposed. I won't get political in my speculation.

@Pinstriper Oregon hasn't issued any "Real" ID cards yet. Starting in July 2020 they might. When October of 2020 comes around your card won't get you on a commercial plane I don't think unless you do what the people in other states will be required to do. Nobody needs one to fly until October of 2020. Check this page out. https://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/DMV/Pages/Real_ID.aspx

And yet I have one. Isn't that odd ?

My Oregon DL just came up for renewal. Went in, gave them my old license, took an eye test as I am over whatever the age is, got my picture taken, and got my real id compliant license in the mail 10 days later.

I didn't have to present any other information or paperwork.

    • RE: "Star Trek Next Generation"

TNG dealt two fatal blows to my willingness to suspend my disbelief.

The first was when they find a copy of Scotty stuck in the memory banks of an abandoned hulk ship.

The second was the flashback to Piccard getting stabbed in the heart as a young man.

From then on I wondered why they didn't just burn off a CD or ZIP drive copy (this was before USB thumb drives, you see) of the signal in the transporter, to be used to restore your body from backup if you ever got seriously injured, sick, or even just old and fat (or in this case, bald).

Yeah, there's the short term memory loss by going back to the moment you were sampled in the transporter. But hey, just once a day you pop into the booth and take a backup. Most you lose is day's activity. You could make it part of your morning routine, like using the bathroom or shower when you wake up.

What's rule 1? I allow account name changes.

    • RE: Spread the Word and Help Lower my Blood Pressure

I have trouble getting past people who use apostrophes for plurals. I mean, this is what, 4th grade grammar ? Third ? I can understand, sort of, that a lot of people weren't paying attention in high school. But they were already cooked by 4th grade ?

Also, people who report that they "seen" something. No, you "saw" it.

Never heard of bigly, but it doesn't sound like someone trying to use big words that are wrong.

      It's a perfectly cromulent word.

There is a thread over THere that implies that Flip at least has contracted with another supplier and is re-launching his product line.

It will be interesting to see how the new horns compare.

Does anyone have a mostly reliable list of who else Kanstul was building for ?

So, what they do is sift through Amazon reviews and aggregate the results. So you don't have to read all the "I bought this as a gift for my 5-year old and he LOVES it ! So happy with this purchase" posts.

I'd prefer they spend their time combing Amazon Q&A for people who reply to product questions with "Sorry, I don't know. Hope this helps", go to their homes and slap them with a fish. That would be a value-add.

    • RE: We're off to a good start

For all of the snootiness on TH - and there was more there than at TM - there is still a fair amount of "what's the best tape to make my mouthpiece fit better and how many wraps should I use ?" type threads.

This site may still be above the mean in pull-my-finger posts as reflects the nucleus of long-ish term members at TM who have perhaps seen enough of the stock discussions and had more of a social focus. That may change as people stumble upon/into it. The fact that it is more of a community than a content store isn't necessarily bad, provided the content develops enough to bring in more scale.
