Notre-Dame de Paris...brought to you by Microsoft.
I was thinking Uber, or maybe something more temporal.
Uber welcomes you to Amazon Prime Notre Dame Cathedral presented by Guardians Of The Galaxy III. You're in good hands.

@trickg There is an active debate about that right now among the architectural and historic communities. There are three possible strategies:
[snip]- Fix the stone vaults, but do something completely new with the roof that clearly expresses our own age.
So, SuperMegaJumbotron streaming Netflix originals 24x7 ?
I wonder if they will sell the naming rights.

RE: Stale air
What instrument is the director playing ? It seems to me a trumpet indoors should be able to keep up, volume-wise, with anything not amplified to 11. Even what we used to call a "rock crusher" when I was in the pipe organ business, a trumpet should still cut through.
The director's musical style/sense may or may not be so great, but they are the director and it is apparently what the congregation has come to expect/accept.

I have learned a lot just reading some of Robin's replies and suggestions to those who sought advice, myself included. He may have sounded pompus to some, but many knowledgeable people come across that way, though they certainly don't mean to. There were times in some of Robin's posts that he actually came across as being quite humble.
I'D LOVE TO SEE ROWUK COME HERE !!!!
Rowuk's posts were amazingly educational, to the extent I could understand and apply. He may have rubbed some people the wrong way with his direct language, but I always saw it as just coming straight to the point and not pussyfooting around.
But then, some people think I can be condescending from time to time. (that means they think I talk down to people)

RE: Anyone watch The Masters golf tournament yesterday?
Check out a copy of Hogan's Power Golf, he list his club yardages, which line up nicely with today's LPGA column in your table.
He was widely considered the tour's big hitter in his day.

To encourage peace in this forum, I have deleted all of my posts in this thread.
God bless.

What does this supposed to be meaning ?
I haven't seen any non-peaceful responses. Some generalizations corrected, and disambiguiation, some restatement of pertinent facts, all in a spirit of accord.
Or are you suggesting that you are about to blow an o-ring because everything you said isn't being accepted at face value, and you are trying to erase the conversation so that it never happened ? If so, you need a different kind of doctor.

Since I never heard of it, I presume "willow back extract" is some sort of new code-speak for some sort of cannabanoid. To my knowledge I am the only person I know that has no experience base in this.
Willow bark extract is actually a natural salicylic derivative from the willow tree. It is a highly effective agent in this class of analgesics for back pain. It is typically sold in Natural Food stores.
Thanks, Doc. Never heard of it but will look into it.

RE: Dr. GO? My back's been bothering me...
Having moderate herniation in L4-L5 and L5-S1 dating back to the first Bush administration, I can say there are exercises that work very much along the principle of (2) above and these have provided some relief. Part of the explanation I received was an increase in blood flow and redistribution of synovial fluids within this disc itself with some sort of nutrient/healing process associated. It may well be hogwash.

As a comeback player, I’m one the less experienced players here on TB and so far I really like what’s happening here. I like the friendly tone of the responses and comments. I think it will help attract the less experienced players, especially young students, and create word of mouth that, over time, will make this forum a success. Hopefully the nasty grumps from TH will stay away!
The TM community, by and large, made room for us hacks to contribute. This is not generally true at TH, which always had more of a "dog show" vibe, despite a roughly equal representation of "What mouthpiece should I buy to hit double-C ?" posts.

What can we do to build our user base? I believe that TH has something like 70k registered users. We only have 130 to date.
A little math.
We have 130 @ 5 weeks = 26 new member/week.
26 members/wk x 52 wks in a year - 1,352 members/year.70,000 TH members/1,352 members TB members/year = 51 years.
Hey, perhaps we are on course, as hasn't TH been around for 51 years... or does it just seem that way!
These things don't trend linear. We haven't reached critical mass, and won't until there are more topics of substance. That's fine for now.
Oh, if nobody noticed, jazzspazz has moved the troll show over to TH.

RE: Copper is cool!
The only contribution I could make here is the Dillon flugel I bought in rose brass. I don't have a pic but will take one if there is a groundswell of demand for same.

RE: I played a D# !!
@Dr-GO said in I played a D# !!:
Congratulations from this end as well. The D# and the Ab and especially the A above that D# in the upper range are particularly challenging, as I find any high range combination including the second valve as a little tricky for slotting. When you are up in that range, the slotting gets tighter so you can tend to glide to another "false tonic" unless you are solid on the note. Can't do much to make that D# or Ab easier, but for the A, using the false fingering third valve only really helps to lock that A into place.
I should live so long to worry about the A above the D above the staff is in perfect tune !

I'm asking about the OP. Thad Mel had some awesome blowers.
It's a Nestico chart called Color Me Warm, and the 3rd part has a lick that starts on G above the staff, going to D, then D#. For 4 years I've played that down an octave, but a few weeks ago tried and found I was on the notes. I certainly don't "command" anything above B. But reaching for, and finding these notes, is to me kind of like cracking the lid on a jar, and it is getting easier, less of a squeak.

D# -- equivalent to E flat. Hayden. I always wanted to get to the point where I can play Hayden. I play in the jazz band and have worked on register for three or four years. Now i can do the D# in Hayde or elsewhere. Congratulations -- now the challenge is to keep it and make it part of your regular routine.
Looking at
Calling is a D# makes it sound higher.

I played a D# !!
OK, I started hitting this note 4 weeks ago. 3rd trumpet charts this high are thankfully few and far between. But I am getting there about 3/4 of the time, with airballs the other tries. I will take it down an octave in gigs until I own the note, but this is a major step forward for me.
