@neal085 true enough. Entry level Yamaha AD line is made in China. Conn-Selmer Prelude line are also made in China. King seem to fare a bit better, though, and are made in the Eastlake factory. Jupiter are made in Taiwan, but intermediate and pro models are very nicely made and leagues above the entry level.

That's great info - thank you! Think we're going to go with the King this time around.

,,,I feel like I could run on a platform of making the trumpet our official national instrument, making it illegal to play viola in public, and maybe build National Mouthpiece Safari Parks.

These items definitely get my vote!

I'd get a kick out of anything Botti plays. He is marvelous and just seems to make it look so easy.

He is one of the best, accuracy and control of pitch he is a master at doing this. He really knows how to connect with an audience as well. I have seen him live and in person. Gave him one of the songs I wrote, "Midnight in Tuscany" which he graciously accepted but I have not heard it recorded yet.

      Thanks.
It's been 8 years, Doc, but you know, I never really got over it and probably never will. She was something else.

I truly understand. My wife is a cancer survivor. I remember those emotional days of surgery, radiation, chemo. I was there EVERY day to be by her side. She had an aggressive form of HER2+ breast cancer... AND A GREAT ONCOLOGIST. She is now 8 years out from therapy and remains cancer free.

So happy to hear your wife is cancer free, Doc. I can well relate to the emotional experience you went through. My wife had pancreatic cancer and survived for two years after surgery ( WHIPPLE ), and she lived her life as normal as possible. But there were so many side effect after the surgery that times were often hard. I put my own life on hold to be at her side and, as my family doctor once said, I became her personal physician.

Actually, there have been too many of the good ones leaving us recently. Wallace Roney, Claudio Roditi included.

And it will continue, Dr-GO. We're not getting any younger.

@Dr-GO said in TM Refugee - Late to the Party.:

What Dr. Mark... you mean you don't hold a "Kenny" G note out for 59 minutes?

There was a time when I could play for a really long time using circle breathing. I would use it before I learned how to control my air better (and more importantly) write in the breath marks on the music. I first learned how to circle breathe in high school and then later while in college, I began playing the digeridoo. Kenny G makes a lot of people happy and does play well. However, when I saw on YouTube "Kenny G does Giant Steps" and he simply played one frickin' note and circle breathes, that pissed me off. I was hoping to hear another side of Kenny G.. I now enjoy his playing when I hear it (use to hate him) but admittedly, I don't own any of his recordings or require any of his riffs but who knows, maybe he'll put out something that makes me say; "Hey, I need that riff!"
