Finally figured out posting photos! Here is a shot of my Schlub flugelhorn.

RE: Help! I need to hit that high note!
Arturo does have a Harrelson...but to be completely honest and fair...he has a LOT of different trumpets.
The guy has jumped from one brand to another to another for years. I think some are gifted to him by makers hoping he’ll love it and cause the rest of us to go “If Arturo likes it, it must be really good... I’m going to buy one!”.
I know of a handful of websites that claim Arturo plays their horn/mouthpiece. It’s a claim to fame!
I’d love to see a candid, non biased interview with him where he addresses his love for trumpet gear.

RE: Flugel Thread
After a couple years of patina. The picture isn’t the best quality...but gives you an idea.

RE: Dr. Mark, now A Former User
We could sit here talking about a former/banned member all day...but what is the point? Gossip? Trash talk? I would hope we’re better than that.
I suggest we move on to conversation and topics that are actually interesting and worthwhile!

RE: Tone Centering for Trumpet (Centering & Tuning) Part III
Gents,
It’s time to end this. Take it to private messaging if you must, but please let it be done in the public threads.

Knock Knock.
Who's There?
Annie.
Annie Who?
Annie Thing You Can Do I Can Do BetterNow, that is condescending!
Not to be confused with dropping a 12A cornet down a flight of stairs.

RE: How many of you taught yourself to play?
I did not teach myself trumpet...but I used that knowledge to teach myself French horn, euphonium, piano, and various percussion instruments.
Once you have the basics, many instruments are fairly easy to pick up.
Mastery generally requires coaching though.

RE: Its Been an Age Long Requirement But How Many Can Do It?
Many singers call notes as they are on piano (in terms of octaves).
The lowest note on piano being A0...the next octave being A1, then A2...etc...etc
I don’t see why other instruments couldn’t do the same. That’s about as easy as it can get.

RE: Trumpets Made ONLY by Their Maker
Wouldn’t that be nice....wish I could! But I would imagine the round trip flight plus the purchase of a horn would equal....bankruptcy!
Maybe someday. Or we could all beg Trent to become a dealer? Did somebody say petition?

RE: Survey: How do YOU test a new trumpet?
I’m one of those weirdos that just plays the horn. If it feels wrong...it’s not the horn for me.
I am very analytical about a lot of things...but testing out instruments isn’t one of them.

RE: Monetization of/for TrumpetBoards
I don’t know how all of that stuff works... but what about getting sponsors that are related to the forum subject?
Those sponsors could get ads or a plug for their products and shops and TB gets some costs covered...? Ads for trumpets/brass on a trumpet forum would probably get more hits than other websites.
There’s no shortage of manufacturers and shops and they all already do some sort of advertising or marketing.
Just the beginning of an idea...?

Good grief. What does a lot of this stuff have to do with music or trumpet playing?
My thoughts exactly. Only a matter of time that this thread gets out of hand and is locked...

Jazz Song #2 - Take Five
This week’s jazz classic for dissection... Take Five!
Composed by Paul Desmond and often credited to Dave Brubeck (I just learned that...I thought Dave wrote it)
In a world that is seemingly DOMINATED with 4/4 music, I have always found Take Five refreshing and original.
Also just learned today, Take Five has lyrics. Written by Don Partridge (to Desmond’s original melody)
They are:Won't you stop and take
A little time out with me
Just take fiveStop your busy day
And take the time out
To see if I'm aliveThough I'm going out of my way
Just so I can pass by each day
Not a single word do we say
It's a pantomime and not a play
Still, I know our eyes often meet
I feel tingles down to my feet
When you smile, that's much too discreet
Sends me on my wayWouldn't it be better not to be so polite
You could offer a light
Start a little conversation now
It's alright, just take five
Just take five -
RE: Trumpets Made ONLY by Their Maker
What do we consider as “only made by their maker”?
Does that mean the maker fabricates every single part of the horn (including springs, corks, spit keys and all)? If it means that, I don’t think such a horn exists.
Or does it mean they fabricate all major parts in house? Valves, pipes, bells...in that case the examples will be extremely low still. Almost every horn brand I can think of buys either valves/valve blocks or bells (many times both) to assemble their instruments.
Or does it mean only one pair of hands assembles/builds the horn (using either bought or self fabricated parts)? If this, there are plenty of examples in the US besides the two you mentioned.

Thanks, Guys.
As Barliman says, things have become a little hectic over here, but I hope to drop in from time to time and provide some more 'unique input'!
While I'm here, Mrs Seth and I are in Kuala Lumpur next month visiting family, and I was wondering if Schlub Brass Works was still going in Singapore. The web site is a little ambiguous ...
... and Mrs Seth hasn;t had any new jewellery for a while.
Schlub is in the USA now...website hasn’t really been updated for a few years.

RE: Different Techniques For Different Instruments?
How about we throw picc trumpet into the mix? And C trumpet too!
How should the approach be different between Bb and picc? Should the approach be different between Bb and C?
