I never knew this song had lyrics. Interesting.
From what I read, the lyrics came years later and not by the original composer.

Gotcha.

Josh Landress makes some of his own I think.
Those are just off the top of my head...I’m sure there are many more boutique makers all over the world that deserve a mention. I’m sure others will chime in.
Born and raised in the Kalamazoo Michigan area...home of a lot of musical instrument making giants!
Gibson (Kalamazoo), York (Grand Rapids)...and even though he didn’t do business in Kalamazoo, Dave Monette was born in the area.
With a handful of people representing Ohio...I sure hope a few more reps from the Superior State pop up! Although, I must admit, the Ohio reps here on TB certainly seem to be good people!
Kujo, reporting for duty!
Looks like I’m a couple days late to the party. Finally decided to check TH for any updates on TM and discovered TB (no, not that TB).
Hopefully we’ll see the rest of the gang shortly. Good to be here!
A version I found a while back upon discovering a new instrument!
I was under the impression that Flip Oakes designed his horns, but Kanstul did the building... someone correct me if I’m wrong.
Obviously that may be changing if Kanstul doesn’t come back.
Well, as the admin mentioned earlier.... the members are responsible for the content.
We are all only going to get out of this site what we put into it.
Yup, Arturo is a true lover of good gear!
There are many makers around the world that boast on their websites that Arturo uses their horn, mouthpiece, mute, case/bag, etc.
I’ve always liked that Arturo enjoys multiple instruments and doesn’t necessarily “promote” one brand over others. Many musicians do...and even go as far to say or imply that brand X is “better” than any other.
Arturo finds joy in any instrument that he can make music with (it seems that way at least).

Nothing wrong with assemblers! I love the Taylor Trumpet I have in the shop (Getzen valves) and am excited to get a new Puje from my frien soon (also Getzen block).
I’ve posed the same question to myself and others before. The same is asked for different trades/crafts all over.
Very few trumpet makers have the resources and tools to manufacture valves and valve blocks. How many companies do?
Getzen, Kanstul, Bach, Schilke, Adams, Zirnbaur, Meinlschmidt, Monette, and Carol Brass are the big ones that come to my mind right away. Compare that to the amount of trumpet makers out there...the scales tip pretty heavily to one side.
I still think that the craftsmen we’ve listed above are ultimately considered horn makers though. Especially the ones that design and manufacture the rest of the components.
“Assemblers” (my opinion) would better describe people that purchase all the parts and then assemble (a Getzen block, a Taylor bell, a Bach leadpipe and tuning slide, and other trim parts/braces/rings to make a horn). There is still a design element there...but no manufacturing, no building etc...
Those are my two cents.
I’ve been a hobby woodworker for about 8 years. Lots of small items, restoration work on antiques, and slowly working my way to making tables.
Like many hobbyists...we can be very strongly opinionated when it comes to materials, tools, methods, and finishes.
For example, here are one of my opinions.
Painting wood should be punishable by law...specifically jail time. Painting quality hardwood would be a life sentence.
What projects are you planning?

With the above said, I might add, Barliman has been doing a fine job of policing as well.
Barliman and Kujo are very capable as is our administrator. I think we have a good team and am happy with this. Perhaps having Leadership meetings on a regular basis may help distribute the load and minimize the burden, which again argues to adding another mediator. Team work always wins.
I recently removed myself as a moderator. I no longer check the site on a frequent basis (life is busy right now!)...so it just didn’t make sense to be a moderator. Somebody more active on the site will be a better fit.
If you have easy access to the show/episode in question, it should be in the end credits.
Couple more that I think fit the definition.
-Raw Brass Trumpets
-Possegger
-Marcinkiewicz
-Benchmark (I just recently heard about this maker...I don’t know too much about them)
-Inderbinen
-G&P Wind instruments
-AR Resonance
I finally remembered some European makers.
The way I see it...TB is a community. Yes, we all share “trumpet” in common...but it is not all that we are. I don’t think any of us eat/breath/sleep trumpet 100% of the time.
As mentioned already by other members, there are a handful of music, theory, and legit topic threads started. Added members and increased participation from those members will grow the entire forum.
Give it time and continue to contribute to the topics you’re seeking.
I noticed there was no flugelhorn thread yet. That can’t be tolerated, so let’s get one going.
Share your flugel pictures, stories, favorite flugel players/songs/albums. Share what mouthpiece(s) you use, brands/makes you’d like to try...etc...

BAC bought the tooling for their own operations, I believe
Mike would be a great person to carry on with that tooling. Better than ending up with some huge conglomerate instrument makers...that’s my opinion at least.
I really like the fourth one from the top!
Looks great as is and would look awesome in a sharp contrast black at white.

Good luck finding a flugel piece. It took me years to find the one I have and I haven’t seen any (real ones) since.
Yes, these are really hard to find. I should have kept the 1-2 I had.
I have Art Farmer's back up piece (artists were only allowed one of a piece at time apparently) in my stash and it's an amazing piece.
The piece I have isn’t marked with any number/designation that Al used. I had his son Steve check it out...and he is fairly certain that it was an early prototype of the Art Farmer piece.
