    • RE: Travel Trumpet

I won't address this generally, but just give you my experience.

I traveled from U.S. to Germany and back, and traveled around within Germany, with a Carol Brass pocket trumpet.

Carol Brass makes a pocket trumpet with a normal-sized bell so your mutes should fit it. I only took a Yamaha Silent Mute, which fits flush with the bell so I didn't need any extra space for it.

The taking up of space and the extra weight were negligeable. I put the horn, without a case, in my suitcase. It was well insulated and saved you the extra annoyance of carrying another piece of luggage around.

BTW, with the Carol, I never felt this was a compromise instrument, like using a plastic instrument, for example. It sounds and plays just fine on its own.

In this study, this device if used daily, can increase inspiratory lung volume by 16% in 30 days.

I climb a set of stairs with a cup of coffee in my hand at the start of each day. It works. Anyrhing is better than nothing.

      @kehaulani Lyre screw is missing...

I guess I'll have to knock another hundred dollars off of that, that being such a crucial part of any horn. 😁

    • Conn 80-A Cornet

I have a Conn 80-A I'm planning to sell on eBay. It's in excellent condition, mechanically and cosmetically. Just hit me that someone here might be interested, so before I put it up for public sale, I'd give TB Forum members a chance, if anyone's interested.

98% lac. (relacquered)., valves work well with no discoloration. All slides work. I don't see any dings or dents.

      Case and mouthpiece included.

Planning on asking $350.00, will sell for 300.00.
      If you're interested, pm me.

    • Contacting site Administrator?

How do I contact the Administrator? I've looked all over the site ad can't find how. Probably easy and I'm just plain brain dead. Thanks.

    • RE: Good trumpet upgrades?

      Uh . . . O.K.
Just to make this clear, I have never been a Bach man and have played non-Bach horns (and (mouthpieces) my entire career. So, I surprised myself when I encountered a Bach 190-37. For ME, its sound is very rich and adaptable to all my playing situations.

If someone has the coin and is looking for a new horn, I suggest checking the Bach Anniversary out. You don't like it? Fine. But I suggest you leave your reverse prejudice at the door and see how it lives up to the other candidates.

BTW, I do not play Bach products.

    • RE: AR Resonance Mouthpieces

I bought one. Excellent craftsmanship. Good mpc, but for me, there was no value added over my usual Reeves and Purviances. I don't use it.

To Rowuk's list, I would add Schilke, probably a B-1 if you can find one at $1,200.00.

You might also like to try a:
      B&S.
      P, Mauriat
      Jupiter
      Getzen Capri

      But, try first.

So, you're looking in the $700.00 - $800.0 price range? What's the going price of your Yamaha? If I were you, I'd wait until I can spring for the $1,200.00 price then and then have a field day.

    • RE: Valve re-fit, original or modern?

My question would simply be "authenticity" or "function"? One doesn't necessarily cancel out the other, but if it does, then you have to set your priorities, which will answer your question.

    • RE: Help me identify this Conn cornet

Thanks for the link, Shifty. Problem solved, sort of. The serial number is on the inside of the valve, where the springs are. More info is available at: https://www.trumpetherald.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=158920&highlight=

    • RE: A Nice Biography

Blast from the past. (Waaaaay past, LOL.) That Marshall Brown record made an impact on me. I think "Copley Square" was the first real jazz big band (not "dance band") chart I learned.

Found myself in school several years later with some of Marshall Brown's alumnae. He had a who's who of H.S. players and I think was influential in developing credible jazz programs in the schools.

    • RE: Help me identify this Conn cornet

That's a possibility except there is no rough spot where the serial number should be. More likely that it was uniformly buffed down and then relacquered.
