I've always been a fan of Blue Mitchell. For horn nerds, it looks like he's hugging his Martin Committee in the picture.

RE: Stagg cornets
My understanding is that Stagg buys low-end instruments from whatever sources are available at the time and then markets them under their own brand. Once in a while you get one that plays OK.

RE: Curry Mouthpieces
@Dale-Proctor I haven't gotten my hands on a Bach 3 to measure for comparison, but I, like you, suspect that the difference between it and the Benge could be the spelling.

RE: Curry Mouthpieces
I have a 3DC. for my cornet. It's nice, but I like my Benge 3 better.
I have a 3TC. for my Olds Special trumpet. It's a little deeper and more V-shaped than a Bach 3C, enabling me to approximate the timbre and playing characteristics of my Olds Studio trumpet.
I bought a 3M., but it didn't play as well as my Bach 3C for me, so I returned it.
One minor thing about them that I don't like is the shape. It's all taper with nothing much to hold onto when handling them, making doing so slightly awkward.

I believe there is a video of Sir Paul McCartney playing The Saints Go Marching In using this horn.
Hearing protection strongly advised!

RE: Louis Armstrong’s Trumpet
I would hope that those not burdened by the possession of money would be willing to suffer being in a position to pay lots of taxes. When the character Tevye in the movie Fiddler on the Roof heard the character Perchik say: "Money is the world's curse." he commented: "May the Lord smite me with it. And may I never recover." Aspiration is a much better mindset than jealousy.

It's beautiful -- but I wonder if it would ever get played, or sit around gathering dust like many collector cars.
It'd be a shame to not play it. IMO you'd be obligated to do it justice by playing it as it was meant to be played and by playing it as it was played and by exploring its characteristics.

Uhhhhh...... My piggy bank is just a little short of $60,000 right now, so I'm afraid I'll have to pass on this one. Maybe next time.

RE: I'm desperate and at a lost with reactions to metal mouthpieces.
I'd source whichever Kelly mouthpiece that is the most like what you were accustomed to play and use that until you solve this mystery. Perhaps a trip to an immunologist might help. Or, since you mentioned bad anxiety, consulting a mental health professional could be part of the solution.
Just out of curiosity, where does one find a solid gold mouthpiece?

RE: Valve Alignment Tool
It's not hard to get valves positioned as close to the factory design as possible. A small mirror, a focused light source, and shims, whether purchased or improvised/hand-made, combined with an intelligent approach and some time, will yield good results. If someone has limited manual skills, of course paying someone else that does have the skills to succeed to do the job makes sense.

RE: New Player has entered the Game
Ah, Ye Olde Mouthpiece Safaris. I remember them well. Glad to be done with them. In the overall scheme of things, they were a necessary part of my learning process, though.

RE: Trumpet Board Remote Performance
I caught The Girl From Ipanema at 0:20; the chord change at that point, combined with the rhythm, gave it away.

RE: No Name Trumpet
@flugelgirl If it wasn't for the lack of identification, I'd think it was a Frankenhorn.

Judging by the knurled collars in the middle of the front and rear bracts and the brace from bell to 2nd valve the bell is removable.
Regards, Stuart.
Thanks for pointing that out. I was wondering about the braces. I missed the 2nd valve attachment. The 1st and 3rd slide stops caught my eye, though.

Insurance
Larry’s barn burned down and his wife, Susan called the insurance company.
Susan spoke to the insurance agent and said, “We had that barn insured for fifty thousand dollars, and I want my money.”
The agent replied, “Whoa there, just a minute. Insurance doesn’t work quite like that. An independent adjuster will assess the value of what was insured, and then we’ll provide you with a new barn of similar worth.”
There was a long pause, and then Susan replied, “If that’s how it works, then I want to cancel the life insurance policy on my husband.” -
RE: No Name Trumpet
@administrator Come to think of it, what is Matt Brass? Or should the question be: "Who is Matt Brass?"

RE: No Name Trumpet
I have not played this trumpet; my friend lives in another state.
The blow dart gun looks like an interchangeable leadpipe insert. See the clamp screw on the mouthpiece end of the leadpipe on the horn?
What do you make of the collar connecting the bell tail to the piece of tubing coming out of the first valve?
