@Dr-Mark
If that's the album that also included My Foolish Heart, Days Of Wine and Roses, etc, yes, it is absolute perfection. And he still sounds great, and looks great even now at 90 something. Unlike Sinatra, whose voice changed as he aged, to my ears Tony still sounds the same.

After watching those two videos, and the one from Vulgano Brother I don't know whether to laugh or cry. -

Played better than a lot at North Texas, not as good as others.
Did you play in the One O'Clock Lab Band?
Hi Neal! I've been the in the hospital all week, sorry, just saw this. I did not play in the One O'Oclock, rather concentrating on composition and musical direction.
Hope you are ok, Kehaulani.

All good points. Maybe I should try a little harder to get it, rather just scratch my head. -
RE: Music. What is It?
@Dr-Mark
True, there is a lot of what he says " horseshit " but there is a lot of so-called music out there today that makes me scratch my head. In the case of Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga, they are talented ladies and lots of melody in what they do. I love Gaga in particular, because look at some of her work with Tony Bennett. That girl can sing. -

I can think of one ruler a lot of your fellow Americans would like to have "removed without violence " -

@BigDub
Wow, a definite departure, but like a lot of your work, the images make me think, and wonder, is there a message here ? -

I tell you, for all the years it took to be doctors, and how amazed I am of the musical ability you and Dr-GO share, I actually wondered what either or both of you may have accomplished in the world of music had you chose to go that route rather than in to medicine. In fact, some times the musical conversation between you two is so far above my head that it leaves me in awe. Truly. -

A very interesting video. With some of today's music I scratch my head, listen closely and try to make some sense of it, but I can't. IMHO, music without melody ( and all the things that make melody ) just isn't music and my ears just can't stand it. -
RE: Marching Season and Triple Super C
Have to agree with some of the conversation here in regard to the so called high intelligence of those who possess a university degree of one sort or another. In my many years as a top executive in the printing and publishing industry I was involved with a lot of hiring, and I hired more high school grads who really made it in the business, than those with fancy degrees, myself included ( I retired a vice president, publisher and general manager of one of eastern Canada's largest printing and publishing operations ). However, having made this statement, let me say that in medicine and law and a few other professions, it is a whole different story, and I have a great deal of respect for those ( Like Dr. Mark and Dr-GO ) and the dedication to learning it takes to excel in their profession.

Definitely sounds like more than two trumpets. Great work , Doc. -

I have a feeling you will fit right in what that group, Doc. You are amazing. -
RE: Favorite Music
@Seth-of-Lagos
Oh, yes, the song is indeed very moving. Now that I have the link to the song I will listen to it often. Louis was one of the few celebrity players I have met in person after a concert and never forgot what he said after I told him I was a trumpet player, his eyes widened and gave that big smile, saying: Next time bring your horn. No wonder the world loved him. -
RE: Favorite Music
I thought I knew most of Louis Armstrong's work but neal085's post of We Have All The Time In The World piqued my interest so I did some research on it. It was released in 1969 on a 45rpm single ( Pretty Little Missy on the flip side ) and was the featured song in the James Bond ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE film, one of the few Bond films I missed seeing.
This was sort of a come back for Louis who had been seriously ill for some time and was unable to work much. Most importantly, this apparently was the last time he played his trumpet in a recording studio ( 2 years later he would die of a heart attack ).
Being released as a single on 45 without much pomp and ceremony was probably the reason I was unaware of the song.

The brass section in our band is the back row and the drums are always situated directly behind me... I feel the rhythm from the tips of my toes to the top of my head.Now that has got to be the longest path of radiating tremor I have ever heard in my clinical career.
you should see me when we play at gospel church services...

RE: Favorite Music
@neal085 Wow, I had never heard that song by Satchmo. Everything about it is such a departure for the great one. Beautiful. Thanks.

@BigDub said : if I have to sit in front of the drums I sometimes end up with a headache.
The brass section in our band is the back row and the drums are always situated directly behind me. No headaches, just constant concern for my hearing. The good thing, though, is that I feel the rhythm from the tips of my toes to the top of my head.

RE: glad there's no fighting here
There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with others, but it has always been my belief that it should be done with respect. After all, everyone is entitled to their opinion. The attitude here is mostly a civil one, and that is a good thing.

I thought it was a stunningly beautiful photograph.
But another poster said that it is a painting?
Morris / moshe
Haha, nope, it’s a painting. I'll make sure to let you know when it’s a photo.
One thing that happens is people look at some of these paintings on a small screen like a phone and that makes it look much more like a photograph.It is a fine work of art on a big or a small screen.
The check's in the mail, George! Oops. Did I say that out loud?
