It's all archived, somewhere. But yes, I do believe that the site itself is more or less dead. I'll be looking at potentially purchasing the domain, eventually. Now, if anybody actually knew who the owner was...

RE: Jazz Trumpet Family Tree - Find Your Branch
My teacher in high school was a student of Roger Voisin. Once I listened to Herseth & Voisin himself, I could hear the connection (through Georges Mager). I really like the playing of all three musicians. Very raw, not always perfect (except in the case of Herseth) but incredibly musically aware. One time, I had the opportunity to play for Tom Hooten. He was kind to me, but pointed out that my vibrato would never do in a modern-day orchestral setting. I could tell that the influence of Voisin's sound had worn off on me a bit. Interesting how that happens. I have also known players who listen to so much Chet Baker that they can't make a bright sound to save their life. I am sure there is some theory as to why this all occurs.

RE: Kanstul -- Any News?
I have heard nothing that has not already been told. Same thing concerning prominent trumpet chairs available (Chicago 1st and NYP 2nd, to name a couple).

I'm curious what that contraption is on the tuning slide of her instrument.

I suspect this took a long time to develop. I once created something similar for my trumpet professor.

BrassReview.com is Missed
I miss having this website available...so, I'm thinking of doing it again and starting my own! However, this time, I want to eventually expand it beyond brass instruments. Sound like a good idea? Any suggestions?

RE: Adverts
I finally got Google Adsense to work. You will start to see some advertisements here and there. If there are any issues with the format or the content, please let me know.

RE: Favorite Cornet
I absolutely love SilverTone cornets and trumpets. The art deco on a Sterling Silver bell...so timelessly beautiful.

Welcome Matt! I've enjoyed your point of view often on TH!
Mike
Thank you, Mike! I've literally grown up on TH -- I was just in high school when I started posting, through college, and now getting close to wrapping up my 13th year as a middle & high school band director. I hope I can make a positive contribution here as well!
Who were you on TH?
