@newell-post said in where are they made ?:
The Bach website still says "Made in the USA." But that might mean the parts are made all over the world and a little final soldering is done in Ohio.
Yeah, that doesn't mean much anymore I'm afraid.

@dr-go
The Ambassadors were great instruments for the price.

I don't know of many brands made in the USA, other than boutique brands. Bach Stradivarius, which is owned by Conn-Selmer, is still made here.

My Puje has a Carol valve block and plays very well. It’s also rare that I see a problem with a Jupiter valve block, unless the oil on it is too thick. The tolerances on new Jupiter are pretty tight. I actually keep a Jupiter intermediate under my bench for practice when I don’t bring a horn to work - it’s no replacement for my Adams, but it does play very well! Jupiter 1100 series are more of a stripped down pro model than a dressed-up student, and do quite well as a lower priced model.
Would you recommend a Taiwanese trumpet over, say a Bundy, for a new student?

@dr-go uh, then why did America invade Korea and Vietnam? Korea was not a combatant in WW2, and Vietnam never threatened USA in any way, and neither had much economic value to the USA.
Now THERE's a long story!

@ssmith1226 All very true. As much as I wish to, I shall refrain from adding comments about wars, to respect the TB rules banning politics. What is war if not politics? Well, you seem to agree the song and performance by Lay, with his magnificent voice, is indeed moving, so I believe I have made my points about the performance, message, politics. I believe truly, were the world ruled by musicians, we would not have wars.
I don't think war history is necessarily "politics." Certainly, that played a role. I doubt anybody would be offended by what you have to say about WWI, though.
A V8 in a Miata sort of defeats the very purpose of a Miata...they're not supposed to have tons of power.
I don't think that I, personally, would spend more than $50 for it. It wouldn't fit into any ensemble.

Can anyone tell me if ROWUK posts with a different Pseudonym/avatar on Trumpet Herald, or has he just given up on internet forums, as a whole? Thanks.
He had some kind of German name, I think I read on TM years back.
I have no skin in the game, not getting compensated in any way (other than traffic).
I have to tell you -- this is the most beautifully restored Martin Committee I have ever seen. It's perfect. If this were a large-bore it might sell for $5k+. And the original case is even flawless! At this price, I'd say it's almost a steal. If only I could justify it (I just bought a new road bike!)....
My first horn was a Selmer Radial. I don't see anything wrong with vintage horns as a first horn, so long as it's not a peashooter.
Roseanne Barr's performance was such a disgrace. Whoever thought that she would make a good fit for that job had another thing coming.
Do you prefer the old format (what you see right now), or the "new" format (what you saw yesterday, 1/14/21)?
