I played 2nd trumpet on this piece as a freshman in college. It was a real stretch for me at the time.

RE: Notes I wish were there!
By the way, here is a stunning recording of the piece. You will know what I mean when you reach 4:23!

RE: Game of Thrones Thread
I can't give it a try. I have heard of its extraordinarily raunchy reputation, and know that I can't handle that... maybe I should give up R. Strauss too!

RE: Over 70 vintage trumpets and cornets!
Thanks! I'm liking my 2B so far. It's a 1927.

RE: Here's a nice little daily warmup...
How do you notate a 180 degree trumpet turn in the transcription?

RE: Personality and Taste in Classical Music
What did you answer for "eliminate this instrument" question? I chose the flute, but it was a toss-up between that and the triangle.

RE: pet peeves
I had a college roommate from Singapore that spoke "English." Yeah, right.

RE: CarolBrass 'Balanced' Trumpet in silver plate
Wow, I love the engraving on the top caps. It's very beautiful.

@ssmith1226 All very true. As much as I wish to, I shall refrain from adding comments about wars, to respect the TB rules banning politics. What is war if not politics? Well, you seem to agree the song and performance by Lay, with his magnificent voice, is indeed moving, so I believe I have made my points about the performance, message, politics. I believe truly, were the world ruled by musicians, we would not have wars.
I don't think war history is necessarily "politics." Certainly, that played a role. I doubt anybody would be offended by what you have to say about WWI, though.

RE: 1963 Martin Committee Medium Bore #2 Bb Trumpet
I have no skin in the game, not getting compensated in any way (other than traffic).
I have to tell you -- this is the most beautifully restored Martin Committee I have ever seen. It's perfect. If this were a large-bore it might sell for $5k+. And the original case is even flawless! At this price, I'd say it's almost a steal. If only I could justify it (I just bought a new road bike!)....

RE: Cannot upload pictures.
Let's see if this works. You should see a photo of Satchmo.

Isn't it that the thread had run it's course?
This, and the thread was starting to get contentious and discussing sexual content which wasn't my purpose.

RE: pet peeves
I love how they will call it "The Queen's English," as if it belonged to her since birth. Sometimes I love the classiness of British culture. Out here, though, it's a little more Wild Wild West. This is 'Murica after all. We like whiskey, guns and cattle.

@oldschooleuph
I agree. Beautiful horn. Sell it for what it's worth. If you do donate -- please give to a VERY deserving student who will take very good care of said horn and appreciate the generosity.
