I wasn't sure where to put this, but to a small degree it is historic...a least a part of my history.
When I played during the 50s I was a subscriber to Up Beat Magazine and still have an ear-torn copy of the February 9th, 1955 issue, and thought Martin fans would get a kick out of this Martin ad:

Interesting that the Committee was being promoted to make the high range more possible. It does, at least for me as well and the horn tends to brighten and lighten up from it's darker lower register characteristics at the to of the staff. That F is the doorway to a brighter horn, for sure.

Also interesting the article came out the year of my birth. Great things truly happening in 1955!

Yeah, Doc, I was not only busy as hell with my little band of five but I was also married to a blonde beauty in the fall of '55. And, through thick and thin, she put up with me until I lost her to cancer in 2012.

But getting back to the Martin Committee. In the 50s' the trumpet to own was either a Conn Constellation, A Selmer Paris or A Martin. I had chosen the Constellation 28B and played it until I stopped playing in 1965.

So, Doc, you were a new-born innocent babe in 1955...☺

Newborn... yes... innocent? I'll let members here be the judge of that...

Cool to see that ad. In 1955, I was just discovering trumpet. Then it all went downhill.

Sorry to hear things went downhill for you. It was a good year for me in that I got married and also had a Saturday night teen dance gig renewed for another year for my 5 piece combo.

                    That was tongue-in-cheek.
