        Hi BigDub,
While its true, I am educated, I never said I was intl......intelge…....smart.

Honest, Dr Mark, I didn’t aim that at you one bit. I was just caught up in the flow of nonsense and wanted to add to it. Heh. Heh.

              Hi BigDub,
But it's true, life itself reminds me daily that there is a big gap between educated and smart. I wish I had a quarter for every degreed person I've met that couldn't pour piss out of boot with the instructions on the heel. I have a feeling I'm not the only one that has experienced this.

I have to agree about that. My Dad would consistently make mincemeat out of highly “educated” people. He did not graduate from High School, went straight into WWll at 17, but he had Brooklyn Street smarts and grew up a motherless boy since the age of 6. I don’t come across many people who have more common sense than my Dad had.

My wife's cousin was Salutatorian in her class, but she has the common sense of a chipmunk... and she graduated from college over 40 years ago.

Once again,I think it must be said. Common sense is not.
It should unofficially be declared an oxymoron.
I find very few people who possess common sense.
It seems to be going away with so many instructions, help lines, YouTube DIY videos, and on and on.
When I was a boy, the men could almost all build their own homes. Probably 85% of them.
Now maybe 10% of men could build their own home. And none of those men I was first referring to.......they are way too old now! ☺

                        Hi N1684T,
You got me! When I saw the post I thought "WHAT?!" This poor unfortunate's goal is sadly misguided. But silly me took the bait, hook line and stinker.

Anyway, I gotta talk to this guy about some "octave oil" (I'm just about out). I use it on my valves and its so slick that it makes hitting high notes easy

OUCH!!!! That's up there with sprinkling Habanero power in someone's underwear before they put them on (which I've never done and that's my story and I'm sticking with it)

Have to agree with some of the conversation here in regard to the so called high intelligence of those who possess a university degree of one sort or another. In my many years as a top executive in the printing and publishing industry I was involved with a lot of hiring, and I hired more high school grads who really made it in the business, than those with fancy degrees, myself included ( I retired a vice president, publisher and general manager of one of eastern Canada's largest printing and publishing operations ). However, having made this statement, let me say that in medicine and law and a few other professions, it is a whole different story, and I have a great deal of respect for those ( Like Dr. Mark and Dr-GO ) and the dedication to learning it takes to excel in their profession.

In other words, you don't have to know squat about academics in order to be a trumpet player.
