I think Anna's is still there. Is that associated with Anna O'Brien's?
Trading Hawai'i for Alaska? Jeez.
Although I go back regularly, I started touring in 1966, so haven't resided there since then. I go back to when our mail didn't have zip codes but "TH". The days of Lucky Luck, Lippy Espinda and Prince Neff Maiava :-). The band uniform in my avatar, BTW, is from McKinley H.S.
Anyway, Aloha luna.
New owners renamed Anna Bannanas because Gary, the previous owner, tried to get too much money from them for the name. It's the same place with better management and everyone still just calls it "Anna's"
As for moving to Alaska, I honestly wish I had come here forty years ago instead of going to Hawaii. But then, Hawaii forty years ago was very different from Hawaii today. I went back last April for a reunion with some friends and it is even worse than I remembered it. The transition from an economy based primarily on agriculture to one based on tourism is not pretty. The weather is still nice though.
As for Alaska, well it's just awesome. That's all.
Aloha no ka'kou!
