Waxing inside of MP

Using q-tips I waxed the inside of my cornet MP in the throat and backbore. Reason..especially cornet mp's ..spit clings to the inside and causes a bit of "spitty" sound. Waxing does a great job of minimizing this.

As a physician, I shall add our medical recommendation: Never, never use Q-tips to clean out ear wax. The physics of this only pushes the wax more into the ear drum. I know I am shooting myself in the foot, as people using Q-tips to clear wax brings many patients into my office, but don't put anything smaller then your elbow into your ear.
Q-tips for the mouthpiece that has too open ends, well that is a safe thing to try. I think adc could next recommend a wax that he prefers (please be it not ear wax!)
I use to remember members on TM talking about waxing horns with car wax. But I will yield to the experience of adc.

@adc another advantage - I understand that it takes longer for the hair to grow back when you wax.

@adc I remember a guy back in high school that used to put a ton of chapstick on his lips before he would play. Not sure if it's for the same reason.
I'm wondering why spit would collect just in your mouth piece, rather than in other parts of your horn. Could you explain in a bit more detail? You have me curious. What sort of wax are you using?

I use NuFinsh but it doesn't matter what you use. The other thing I do is wax my horn and after a couple more waxings there is enough wax residue on the micro fiber rag that I wipe the horn off with it after each use. You will be surprised....It keeps getting better.

@adc are you talking about waxing the inside of your horn? I used to own a couple horns that were raw brass, and I would wipe them down with a little turtle wax spray to keep them from getting tarnished after cleaning them. I never considered waxing the inside. I suppose one could spray a little wax on a lead pipe swab and do this rather easily. Could possibly eliminate red rot?
