![alt text](51933316985_7d26ead42a_k.jpg image url) Hello. I'm a photograph collector and stumbled across this original image taken around 1932 in Germany. Does anyone have information on the type of trumpet this boy is holding? Six bell? Thanks!

This is the Martin Schalmei, or signal horn. From what I can gather, it was used as a train signal horn, car signal horn, was popular in Hitler Youth Groups, and played in bands. Here is more information and demonstrations.

Thank you very much for the information! It appears this instrument is still very much used in Germany as can be seen in many videos on YouTube.

@blackwatch1 Not only in Germany. It was recognized as a "workers' instrument and favoured in the USSR.
By the way, the swastika was not uniquely a German symbol. It was used as national badge on military vehicles and aircraft of Finland during the Winter War and Continuation War in the late 1930s

@barliman2001 The swastika was also used by many civilizations millennia prior to its infamous use by the Nazis. https://symbolsage.com/swastika-symbol-meaning/

It might have been on the old site, but someone linked to an East German (I think) schalmei band doing old favorite tunes such as "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." That band had three of the most beautiful women in the glockenspiel section I have ever seen. OK, I know it's sexist. They played great, but I couldn't keep my eyes off them. One woman must have been over 6 feet tall and gorgeous.
