    • RE: The mastery of Freddie Hubbard

Freddy Hubbard was great. I had the opportunity of meeting him in the late 1960’s when he performed at my college, NYU (Uptown Campus). During intermission we both ended up in the Men’s Room, standing side by side at the urinals. As we were in the midst of relieving ourselves, I of course started a conversation, since he was not talkative, and told him how great he played, and how much I admired him. I further qualified my opinion by identifying myself as a fellow trumpet player. Fortunately, at that moment there were no secret hand shakes. Anyway, as you can see I will remember that awkward moment until my dying day. I’m not sure that the conversation was as memorable to him. It might have even been one that he wanted to forget.
For what it’s worth, my favorite album at the time was “The Artistry of Freddie Hubbard”. My favorite cut on that album was “Summertime”.

Banned in North Carolina, but apparently not in Alabama.

    • RE: A little humour

There was a man who worked for the
Post Office whose job was to process
all the mail that had illegible addresses.
One day, a letter came addressed
in a shaky handwriting to God
      with no actual address.
He thought he should open it
to see what it was about.
      The letter read:
      Dear God,
I am an 83 year old widow,
living on a very small pension.
      Yesterday someone stole my purse.
It had $100 in it, which was
all the money I had until my
      next pension payment.
      Next Sunday is Christmas,
and I had invited two of my friends
over for dinner. Without that money,
I have nothing to buy food with,
have no family to turn to,
and you are my only hope.
      Can you please help me?
      Sincerely, Edna
The postal worker was touched. He showed the letter to all the other workers..
Each one dug into his or her wallet
and came up with a few dollars..
By the time he made the rounds,
he had collected $96, which they
put into an envelope and sent
to the woman. The rest of the day,
all the workers felt a warm glow
thinking of Edna and the dinner
she would be able to share
      with her friends...
      Christmas came and went.
A few days later, another letter
came from the same old lady to God.
      All the workers gathered around
      while the letter was opened.
      It read:
      Dear God,
How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me ?
Because of your gift of love,
I was able to fix a glorious dinner
for my friends. We had a very nice
day and I told my friends of your
      wonderful gift.
By the way, there was $4 missing.
I think it might have been those
      bastards at the post office.
      Sincerely,
      Edna

      Can't please everyone..

You will not find a better investment of ten minutes of your time than this video. It has nothing to do with music, but with life. If you have seen it before, watch it again.

Don’t you mean Schlub? Schagerl is in Mank, Austria, and I believe George Schlub moved back to Ohio from Singapore.

How about a little "Flashback Friday" type of theme...

Can you imagine a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner for $2695? ...And it has a "4 on the floor" and a 383ci V8 engine! 😎

      Butch,
It even gets worse the value of $2,695 in 1969 dollars today is $18,854.65. The value of the car today is:

Here is a great classic with a touching story to go along with it. I wish that I came up with a concept, or form of communication like this while my father was still alive.
