George, sometimes it just takes time for the body to get adjusted to a new medication. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions yet.

RE: A little humour
Look guys, the Earth is 6000 years old. Like old Willy, who I worked with, said heatedly when we were talking about a satellite going around the Earth, "Can't go around the Earth. The Earth's flat! Read your Good Book, it's all there. Can't go around the Earth."
Now can we at least stay on topic? Isn't this the Humor thread?

Ever seen a map of the earth? There's a Bible reference to the four corners of the Earth. I'm more than sure they weren't referring to a map.

Even during these tough times, I have a gig every weekend at old peoples homes. I have been playing since Easter. They are waiting for me - every Sunday. 4 locations, Sunday mornings. It is AWESOME!That's very cool, Rowuk. Thanks for doing that. I'm sure they much appreciate it.
When I was in Germany, I used to play regularly, with back-up tracks, at a regional home for the severely handicapped. Some were so bad they were just laid together by staff next to each other like firewood. Others were in better, but still, serious, condition.
I never left that I wasn't nauseated. Sometimes I just sat in the car for a while before driving off. But I know how much the people appreciated a breath of fresh air. It's a beautiful thing that you are doing.

RE: German Band
This is off-topic, but for those who might benefit - the trick to sight-reading is to be reading ahead of what you're playing. It also helps to be able to know a compendium of most-used rhythmic patterns. You then see the rhythms ahead of time and match pitches to them when the time comes.
Know your scales. If you're in the key of Eb and see a run from D to D with an Eb, Ab and a Bb in it, don't think of it as D to D run concentrating on playing the chromatics, but just see it as one unit, that of a run from D to D in the key of Eb. Know your scales and how to read them.

So. I guess you don't enjoy the development section of a Beethoven String Quartet, LOL.

I just feel trumpet players would really like this book. And it might be. That's the thing about getting as much diverse info as you can, balances out a subject.

As an alcoholic I may suggest perhaps you need to trade your horns for more Cutty Sark?

Musician Jokes
Does anyone have any favourite Musician Jokes? Here are a couple favourites to start things off:
Jazz tenor player Zoot Simms, a prodigious drinker, was leaving a club one evening, booze glass in hand. He stumbled, did a forward summersault and came back up standing upright. With the drink still in his hand.
Another time, Zoot was walking down a street when a beggar came up to him asking for a handout. Zoot reached in his pocket, gave the man some money and said, "Now don't do anything foolish like go out and spend it on food".

RE: Dry instrument vs Wet instrument
Let's see. You don't play your horn for a year and now ~IT~ doesn't play as well as it used to. What am I missing?
