Interesting-was it sticky? Are you referring to the inner bore of the outer slide or the internal bore? Cutting grooves in it would reduce surface area thus reducing friction.

Not sticky, but grips better. A picture is worth a thousand words:
I can contact Gary Dafler (my tech) and ask him what exactly he did, then you can see if there is a local tech in your area that can do this. Alternatively, come on into Dayton and I will introduce you personally to Gary!

@Dr-GO Ah! So was it too loose? If so, then what he did was knurl it, which raises the surface just a bit. Engine builders do this to pistons sometime to help them retain oil on the skirts.

Yes. Too loose. Glad you could interpret what Gary did to it by the picture. It now fits snug and works great!
