I found my way back... Sorry, it's been so long!

Greetings everyone!
I am still around and haven't fallen by the wayside. COVID-19 really hit community bands hard, and NOBODY is out playing at all. No rehearsals either at with my Shriners Band here in town.
My trumpet and cornet haven't been neglected though, as I still practice on them, along with my other instruments.
How have you all been doing?

I practice some each day and made short videos of me Christmas carol playing around town and on friends' lawns. I also visited some historical sites/cemeteries and played hymns. I'll continue that soon. It has been good to put myself under a bit of performance pressure because I am still recovering from surgery and a dental procedure.

Good to hear from you, Butch. Our band is able to practice but we have to wear masks when we're not playing and cover the bell with a nylon cloth when we play. We can only play 30 minutes, then leave the room and let it air out. Takes about 20 minutes. Then we play another 30 and call it a night.
There are 33 members in our band but only half of them are practicing once a week. Absolutely no concerts.
A real bummer.

Glad to see you are back Butch! I have had a couple gigs, one very risky after we were promised by the venue there would be no dancing, the band would be in a separate section of the building and all would be wearing mask. Nix to all of that, but that was the weekend before Thanksgiving and still healthy with no symptoms. Did a Christmas Eve Church gig through our local musician union and that went perfectly with excessive mask wearing and social distancing.
Now that I have had both of my Covid vaccines I am feeling much less on edge. Like GeorgeB, I am looking for nylon to play through... but while it is still on the waitress!

I've been battling with some very serious sight issues. Only have about 30% of my vision. at the moment. A spin-off is I can't play because of eye pressure. Can't write 'cause can't see well and no bands to conduct because of Covid. So - next to nothing. Yea it sucketh mightily.

That is a real bummer, Kehaulani. And I thought I had problems with some nerve damage in my left arm after 3 weeks with a pinched nerve in my shoulder. Nothing compared to what you are dealing with. At least I can play.
