So, I bought a Getzen Eb/F Alto trumpet, just because it was really cheap and unusual. I will probably never play this horn for anything, but it's not quite lamp material, either. The valves work well and it plays OK, except the consistency of intonation is terrible in the lower part of the range. I don't really know where one would play one of these horns, except maybe in a drum and bugle corp to cover the french horn part of the range, or something like that.

My question concerns the mouthpiece. The receiver seems to take a standard trumpet mp shank. I have tried the horn with the largest mp I have which is a 1.5C, and it doesn't seem quite right. Any suggestions for what mouthpiece might work for this thing?

      Bb: Bach 180S37G (05), Mercedes (80)
Vintage: Committee (54), Recording (59), Super (49), Getzen Severinsen (66)
      C: Kanstul 1510, Constellation
      D/Eb: Getzen Eterna
Cornet: Schilke XA1, Yamaha Neo Eb
      Flugel: Kanstul 1525, Yamaha 625
      Conch shell in F

I have one of those Eb/F Getzen 300 Alto trumpets. (Not a trumpet).

Although a conventional trumpet mouthpiece seems to fit the receiver perfectly, this is a totally unplayable setup, with terrible tone and no apparent resonant notes at all.

Yesterday I discovered that my Eb tenor horn mouthpiece fits perfectly and transforms this beast into a musical instrument. … sort of.

I purchased and Eb/F Alto Horn (Tenor Horn) a few years back. I use my flugelhorn mouthpiece, which works well enough for my needs.

            Mike

Bach Stradivarius 43* Trumpet (1974), Bach 6C Mouthpiece.
            Olds L-12 Flugelhorn (1969), Yamaha 13F4 Mouthpiece.
Plus a few other Bach, Getzen, Olds, Carol, HN White, and Besson horns.
